This past Thursday (Valentine’s Day) was what we like to call our ‘2nd Annual Valentine’s Sister Outing’ 😀  It started last year when the seven of us went out to Starbucks for fun and it just happened to be on Valentine’s Day.

We sat around and talked for a good hour and a half (maybe longer) and had a lot of good laughs.  We started to discuss where we would be in ten years and decided that when we got home, we would write ourselves letters of where we thought we would be by then.  We also agreed that we should meet at Starbucks for the next ten years, on Valentine’s Day 😀

[Cassia thought something was funny 😀 ]

Well…we came home, got busy, and never did write those letters.  So a year later, we brought our paper with us to write while we were at Starbucks 😀

[I have no idea what Susannah and I are reacting to or saying…but we look…ridiculous!]

So after ordering our drinks, we went up to the nice little loft over Starbucks (this Starbucks is in a Martin’s grocery store, so you can see the grocery aisles down below as you sip your coffee or have your lunch from the deli 🙂 )

Then we sat and talked for probably 2 hours…well, talked and wrote our letters 😀

We tried to be good and not too noisy, but we sure did our share of giggling and laughing!

Then we started talking about where we would be in nine years…

…that was hard to think about!

At first we were just going to write letters to ourselves, but we thought our notes would be kind of short…so we decided it would be more fun to each write a small note on everyone else’s paper.

We included things we knew each other liked (or didn’t like, hehe!), but there was a lot of unrealistic things thrown in, too…enough to make us all laugh hysterically 😀  We didn’t have time to read all of our notes before we left, but it might be a good thing, as hard as we were laughing when we finally did read them at home 😀

Cassia and Anna have an ongoing debate about Dodge vs. Chevy, so in Anna’s letter Cassia wrote,

“Anna, you pulled up in your husband’s car, your Chevy Avalanche broke down on your way over, that’s why you’re late.  You should have took my advice about Chevys!”

Anna wrote in mine,

“I so can’t wait to sleep over at your beautiful house out in the boonies with a airplane strip out back!  Your kids (6 of them) will get their beauty from me, of course!”

Charissa wrote on Bekah’s,

“Bekah, you will be an artist…and have maybe three dogs 🙂  Oh, and when we meet back here in 9 years you will have a vanilla bean white mocha drink :)”

Susannah wrote on Rebekah’s,

“Let’s see…22 years old.  Of course you’ll be graduated and with your graduation money you’ll either 1) buy a llama, or 2) put it towards a…ummm…mission trip?  to China 🙂  Be sure to take lots of pictures for me because I can’t leave my kids and go with  you.  You’ll probably be in charge of all the animals.  How are you going to get Charissa to do it all for you when you are gone?! :)”

Rebekah wrote to Susannah,

“Let’s see, you will be 30. WOW!  You will be married and have one kid and expecting another one, craving chocolate like crazy, and of course have your Smart Car 🙂  Lol!  Wouldn’t that be hilarious to see you getting out of that!”

(We like to tease Susannah that her dream car is a Smart Car, because she is so tall and the car is so small)

[Charissa and Cassia looking over the balcony]

Anna had some fun with her camera and took a couple of pictures with her ring and the coffee cup 😀

While she took this picture she told us, “Do NOT bump the drink!  I don’t want my ring in the frappucino!” 😀

{ Another neat picture Anna took }

What should I write?!

After we finished our coffee, we all started writing…it was probably the only time we were totally quiet 😀

If we were howling right after we wrote these, I can’t wait to see how hard we laugh in nine more years and we read them again 😀

When we came home, we found seven of these waiting for us from Daddy 😀    And we would have had banana splits (another Valentine’s tradition), but we had a banquet to play at that evening, so we’re saving the ice cream for this weekend.

And thus ended another lovely Valentine’s Day 😉   We shall see what the next nine years bring…if Anna actually does get a Chevy Avalanche (and if it breaks down), and if Bekah does indeed get a vanilla bean white mocha drink. 😀

That is SUCH a fun tradition! And if *I’m* laughing over here on this side of my computer screen, I can only imagine the howling laughter that erupted at Starbucks! 😉 Day with sisters + flowers from daddy + STARBUCKS= can you ask for a better day? Unless, of course, Anna pulled up in a Dodge, Jessica flew her airplane in, Rebekah came in a cart pulled by her llama, and Susannah had to be untangled from her Smart Car. =P Heehee!!!!

Love you girls! Hope we can get together before too long (and it WILL include a trip to Starbucks. Just sayin’)

    Oh what fun!

My best friend growing up and I did this when we were 14 with who we were going to marry and how many children, what we’d name them, etc. We read them to each other when we got married (I read her to her when she got married, she read mine to me when I got married). Oh we laughed so hard!!! We knew life wouldn’t turn out the way we had planned but had no idea how wonderful God’s plan would actually be! (Since He knows so much better than we do what it actually is we need, of course!)

What fun memories to make with each other – and what good laughs later (and that day too!).

Hahahaha! You girls are sooo funny! I can just imagine what that guy in the background must have been thinking and texting to his friends – “LOL! I’m here at Starbucks trying to like work on my exam, and there are these HILARIOUS girls sitting at a table near me talking, and laughing, and giggling, and… like, writing letters or something. There’s a whole bunch of them too! I think they might be like, Amish or something. They’re totally entertaining, man…” 🙂 🙂

It looks like you had a blast! The segments of your letters you shared were quite funny! Make sure you save the letters – they will be even more funny when you read them in the future! Sister outings are so much fun, aren’t they? Even if people DO think we are Amish! LOL! 🙂
