On April 3rd, Rebekah turned thirteen years old–then on May 26th, we celebrated with a birthday tea.
Menu
Chicken Salad Sandwiches
Fruity Salad
Scones
Shortbread Cookies
Fudge
Pinwheels
Lemonade
Iced Tea
Mocha “Mud” Pie
It was a very warm day, so lemonade was the favorite drink during the party 😀
Preparations were fun! We girls gladly take the ‘job’ of making the mocha mud pie…the reason being that whoever makes it, gets to eat pieces of it as they go along 😀
{Loaves of fresh bread, made for the sandwiches}
Leah, Anna, Rebekah and Charissa were very busy for the few days before the party, making these lovely paper flowers from an old encyclopedia 😀 you can find the patterns for them :here:
Susannah painted all of the tags that we used at the place settings and on the teapots…you’ll get to see some up-close shots of her work in a little bit.
All of the tea lined up and ready to go…we did have a ‘hot tea station’ for anybody who wanted hot tea–not many did as hot as the day was!
 Getting ready to set the tables–all of the china is washed and ready to go 🙂
Getting the tables ready…
 {the fruity salad}
Stringing the tags…
♥Fudge♥
Leah did a lovely job of setting the tables, don’t you think?
One of Susannah’s tags she painted–she used a leftover one for Bekah’s present 🙂
 {scones}
 One very adorable little boy 😉 Both boys kept asking, “Will we be able to eat some of the food?” They did. Only they got to hang out with Daddy 😀
 {Chicken salad sandwiches}
 Putting the sandwiches together on the day of the party
{pinwheels}
For once, we actually were on time for our own party. Usually we are scurrying around, finishing up last minute details. This time we were ready when the first guest arrived 😀
 Alaina, Holly, Charissa and Esther
{The Birthday Girl}
 Cassia made some shortbread cookies that looked like tea bags (an idea from Pinterest 😉 ) Then they threaded the tags Susannah painted through the hole in the cookie to mark the girls’ places.
{Mocha Mud Pie}
 {Charissa}
 All of the girls signed their names on a piece of paper (also painted by Susannah) for Bekah to keep.
We played a couple of games, one of them being a tea smelling contest 😀  We had five different plastic bags numbered 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 and the girls took turns smelling the tea bags before writing down on a piece of paper what flavors they thought each of them were 😀
 Another ‘encyclopedia’ flower…it was fun to see the girls trying to ‘read’ their flowers 😀
Writing down the tea flavors that they guessed…
There were a lot of giggles during this game 😀
Alaina, Holly, Charissa, Esther and Susannah K.
Laurel, Kristen, Natalie, Makayla and Rebekah F.

 And a gardening set for verse 16, “She considereth a field and buyeth it, and with the fruit of her hands she planted a vineyard.”
 Susannah crocheted a doily that our Grandma was going to make for Rebekah, but never got to as she passed away 2 years ago.  As you can imagine, this was a very special present 😉  The doily Rebekah is holding here is another one she received from a friend, Anna S.
  Last Christmas Rebekah gave Daddy a box with a key a little note in it, asking him to protect her heart.  In return, Daddy got her a promise ring…
…with a promise that he will keep and protect her heart. This is a very special gift that each of us girls have received from Daddy…
She got many other lovely gifts from all of her friends…here the girls are passing the gifts around, taking turns looking at them.
 The honeysuckle was in bloom and made the perfect little elegant bouquets to put on each of the tables 😀
After the gifts were opened, the girls ran outside to play a game or two of Red Rover before it was time for everyone to go home…
…and so ended a lovely day and a lovely party for one very special and lovely young lady 😉

What a beautiful birthday tea party! Very elegant and memorable, I am sure. Love the way Dad presented her with the ring in response to the note and her giving the “key” to her heart to her daddy. Precious! We just had a covenant ceremony for our daughter this past weekend. You can see pictures of the evening here: http://treasuresfromashoebox.blogspot.com/2012/07/haleys-covenant-ceremony.html
Thank you for sharing this! I look forward to showing this to my daughters this evening.
I just went over and visited your post…that is so sweet, and such an encouraging and memorable day for Haley as well, I’m sure! Thanks for sharing your link 😀
