I bought this little harp about ten years ago so that I’d have a more portable harp to carry around. I don’t use it it very much anymore, so I am looking to sell it so someone else can enjoy it. It has gotten a little lonely sitting in the corner 😉
The specifics:
Brand: Praiseworthy Harps
Wood: Cherry
Octave Range: Two octaves starting from Middle C
Sharping Levers: on the F & C strings. You can play in up to three different keys with these levers (more if you retune the harp, which isn’t hard to do with only 16 strings).
Comes with a padded case, tuning wrench, new set of strings, and a harp care manual.
Asking for $400 (I paid $500 for the whole outfit)
Shipping cost to most places in the Continental US: $70.00
The harp has a really nice sound (it isn’t tinny sounding like the cheap lap harps) and good string tension. The man who made it wanted lap harps with string tension that would get players ready for pedal harps.

There are a some imperfections, a few small ‘dings’ in the varnish up at the top…
…and some scratches on the side. Nothing that will affect the sound (and really doesn’t detract from the overall appearance).
Comes with a nice padded case
The case has a big roomy pocket to store your wrench and strings in. The tuning wrench, new set of strings, and a harp care manual also come with the outfit 🙂
And a short video to give you an idea of what it sounds like 😉 The case looks all spotted in the video…but those are just raindrops, not grease spots! 😀

It is kind of like piano, only you’re plucking strings instead of hitting keys 🙂 It is easier than playing violin, for sure 🙂 I’m selling it for $400 plus shipping (which is around $70).

I’d stay away from the cheapo, Pakistani harps that are only $300 or so 😀 They are ‘okay’…I used to have one of those, but after a while I had trouble with the levers wearing out, and it’s just so much more worth it to pay a little more 🙂

My 9 year old daughter really wants to learn to play the harp. I found a 16 string lap harp and bought it. I am now faced with the problem of music for it and some sort of passions. I hope that you can point me in the right direction.

I had the same problem trying to find music for a 16 string harp. I know it might a bit late for this since she already has the 16 string, but a 33 string is easier to find music for 🙂
I would probably find some lap harp music at places like http://www.vanderbiltmusic.com, or http://harpsicle-harps.com/7-music-books or perhaps even email them and see what they suggest. I found that I had to take some of my songs for a 33 string harp and change the left hand a bit to make it fit on the 16 string. I hope that this helps!

I’m sure you probably could! I had a friend who was very petite and played a large harp! 😀 If it’s something you’d really like to do, I’d recommend finding a harp teacher and having a lesson to try it out and get her input on it 🙂

Hi Vivian! The song was “Like a River Glorious”, and the arrangement is one I made up, so I don’t have any sheet music for it, unfortunately! – Jessica
