This is my favorite flaky crust recipe! I love crust! Make it nice and thick=perfect! 🙂  Though, I think some of my family members would disagree!

Prize Winning Crust: 2 single crusts

Mix together in a large bowl and cut in shortening:

2 c. flour

1 t. salt

1/2 t. baking powder

2/3 c. shortening

Sprinkle in one tablespoon at a time and stir in:

1 T. oil

4-5 T. milk

When thoroughly mixed together, it should be gooey, it is ready to roll out!

This recipe I believe came from Taste of Home.

And here is a Prize Winning Apple Pie filling, to go with your Prize Winning Crust!

Prize Winning Apple Pie

Stir together in a large bowl:

1 c. sugar

4 T. cornstartch

3/8 t. nutmeg

3/8 t. cinnamon

dash of salt

Mix with:

5 c. thinly sliced apples

1 T. water

Cook filling on stove top until it is nice and gooey, turn into prepared pie crust, dot with butter and put top crust on. Seal, slit steam vents.

Cover pie with foil to prevent overbrowning,

Tip: Spray the foil before putting it on pie, this helps it from sticking to the pie and messing up your nice looking crust! 🙂

Bake @ 425 for 25 minutes.  Remove foil and bake 15 minutes more until browned.

Yields: 1 delicious pie!

Now that you have a recipe, what’s your excuse?! Go and perfect the Christmas Season!  🙂

Perhaps your excuse is like ours, you can’t have pie.

If your in the baking mood, you can go perfect the Christmas Season for someone else! I’m sure they would love to receive a pie from you! 🙂

Happy Baking!

P.S.  Just how many pictures and angles do we need of a single apple pie?

Answer? We were doing an apple pie photo shoot for an up coming project. 🙂

It was beautiful! It turned out pretty great- but I didn’t add as much salt as the recipe calls for, so it was a little bland 🙂 Next time I’ll read a little more carefully! 😀

Yummy, Yummy! Glad it turned out!

LOL! We’ve misread recipes before too! Once we put 2 cups of sugar in the biscuits instead of 2 T. My! They were more like very sweet cookies! LOL! 🙂

they would have been VERY sweet biscuits! I tend to add the baking powder (we grin our own flour) right at the end, so the slice/cake/cookies turn out very fizzy….. 🙂
