It’s lunch time and my mashed potatoes were in the toaster oven heating up.

Pulling  my potatoes out with a hot pad I placed the  plate on the stove, all is good until….I decided to pick up the plate again, this time without my trusty hot pad! (actually they’re not trusty, just about all of them are falling apart!) OUCH! The plate was hot! But thankfully, it’s just a little burn.

Do you ever wonder  where you put your brain? You do so many brainless things in one day, or maybe it’s just one brainless thing you do! And your thinking, “OH BROTHER”!!!!

“WHERE, OH WHERE DID I PUT MY BRAIN!?!?!”

“What was I thinking?”

Maybe you left it in bed when you got up this morning, or perhaps you didn’t even wake it up!

The other day  Susannah and I did a couple “brainys”, we decided that we had enough information, er…or is it experience, that we could go together and teach Stupid Seminars of all the dumb things we’ve done! 🙂

I’ll start with a week or so ago when I was mowing the yard.  Did you know that a mower doesn’t just cut grass, but that the blades are  so sharp that they can cut things besides grass!

I was going over an old tree stump, when  all of the sudden I start hearing this

“rrrrrrRRRRrrrrrrRRRRRRrrrrrRRRRRrrrrrr”!!!!!

Not. Good. When you hear that sound, I can guarantee you that you are cutting something besides grass!!!!!

I was cutting wood!!! Cassia, don’t you know that chain saws cut wood, not mowers!!!

Fast forward a week or so, I am mowing again.

In the Fall we mow just about as much as we do in the summer because we mow up all the leaves! (It sure beats raking them all!)

So,  I was mowing, close to a fence line, the fence line is lined with honeysuckle bushes and leaves were all piled up around the base of the trees. Therefore they were covering a rock the size of a basketball, partly underground and partly above ground.

You probably already know where I’m going with this! 😉

I’m mowing along when all of the sudden I hear:

rrrrrRRRRRrrrrrrRRRRRRrrrrrrRRRRRR!!!!

Similar to when I was using the mower for a chain saw, but this time it sounded worse!

I backed away and saw that I was using the mower for masonry work!

I’m telling you! These things are multi-purpose! They cut wood, stone, and oh yes! I’ve heard their great for grass! 😉

Sounds “brainy” doesn’t it! But wait, the story doesn’t end there!

I was emptying the bags on the mower, backed up very close to the goats’ fence. (Just giving them a little treat. 😉 )

After emptying the bags I hop back on to the mower, and the pocket on my apron catches on one of the joysticks. (Say, why are those things called “Joy“sticks? Do they give you Joy when you move them or somtin’? 🙂 ) The mower then proceeds to  go backwards, and since I am already backed up pretty close to the fence, I am backing up into the fence!!!….oh dear me!

Well, no more mishaps with the mower that day, but I did have one later in the kitchen when I was cooking.

I was chopping something for supper and I dropped my knife! I jumped away, but not soon or fast enough!

The tip of the knife landed right above my toes! Ouch! Thankfully though, since the tip was bent, I had no cuts, just pain!

Oh yes, Daddy, I know doing masonry work with the mower was the worst of what I used the mower for, but I  was just trying to help you out and sharpen the already sharpened blades! 😉

The date was September 3rd, 1847, okay, not really, it was  2011. 😉

Anna and I were at our local farmers market and I was having a terrible time giving my customer the correct amount of change. But after all she did make it “hard”  on me and gave me a twenty! When she only bought a $1.50 piece of pie!!!

First I gave her change as if she was buying a whole pie, after attempting to give her the right amount a few more times, and with her help, *um, EMBARSSING!* I finally got the  right amount to her.

That, was just the beginning of the day!

Next, we were home and I  was cutting up and blending tomatoes to make tomato sauce. I had a pan full of this runny tomato substance, and I had to bring it to the garage oven, which meant going through a closed door. (Well, not being a ghost and actually walking through a door, but I think you know what I mean. 🙂 )

I made it to the door with out spilling anything and instead of asking for someone to come help me and open the door, I tried doing all by myself!

Balancing  the pan in one hand I opened the door with the other. Mission accomplished!!!

But while accomplishing my mission, I slopped  some tomato “sauce to be” on the floor and spilled some more on the garage floor!

Yeah! Mission accomplished, but with a few messes to clean up!

In the course of making the sauce, I also managed to finish breaking a handle off the vita mix base and touch a pan that had been in the oven for just  a couple of minutes  to see if it was hot! Um, yeah, it was hot!

Note: If a pan hasn’t been in the oven for very long, and you need to take it back out, don’t just assume that “because it wasn’t in there very long means it’s just warm, not hot.”

But why was I taking the pans out, when I had just put them in!?

Well because I had filled all of  our 9×13 pans plus some other pans, had put them in the oven and then realized I needed 4 of those pans to make supper!

Mr. Tomato Sauce2B, your just gonna have to wait, out came the pans and while pouring the sauce back into the stock pot, I spilled some on the counter!

That evening I was helping do the dishes, and there, on the counter, was a nice pan full of cooked down tomato sauce.

Hmm, tomatoes seem to be playing a constant roll in my troubles that day, maybe I should start staying away from them! 😉

Anyway, I was laying out a big towel to put the wet dishes on, and… I flipped the corner of it right into the tomato sauce!

The day ended with out any more “brainys” and that night I had quite the diary entry to write! 🙂

So, now that I’ve shared some of  my “brainys” with you, what are some of yours?

LOL 😆 This is one of my favorite posts so far! I was hoping so badly that you didn’t run over your foot with the lawn mower next!

Making change in your head is hard, isn’t it?

I make messes when I cook too! So you’re not alone. 😉

What are some of my “brainys?” Well, I usualy have a “Where’s my brain” moment every time I do a math lesson. I still don’t understand how I get some of my problems wrong. 🙄 😆

LOL, Cassia! 😀 Even though I knew about all of these, it sure was fun reading them all together 😀

p.s. I think they’re called ‘joy sticks’ because they’re more joy than a steering wheel–at least that’s my opinion 😀 hehe!

I see two sides of the joy sticks and steering wheel. 🙂

The steering wheel is fun because it’s like a car, 😉 but, you can’t drive it with your feet like you can the joy sticks! 🙂 LOL!

That’s right 😀 And you can’t do 360 degree circles really fast with a steering wheel 😀

Oh, goodness! 😀 our lives are filled with incidents that are NOT FUNNY AT ALL when they are happening, but are hilarious later on! 😀 When I was setting up my guitar and amplifier at church (I’m on the worship team:D ) I couldn’t figure out for the life of me why it wouldn’t turn on! I fiddled with it for several minutes before our worship leader pointed out that I hadn’t plugged it into the wall! 😀 And just a few weeks ago when I was buying some denim for a dress, I neglected to notice that it was 60″ wide! Praise God I had been studying the back of the envelope earlier, and knew what the 60″ yardage was! 😀 So yeah, I have LOTS of those moments too! 🙂

Yes I agree, sometimes they’re not funny at the moment, but later on they can give you quite the good laugh! 🙂

LOL! The guitar story was funny! 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

One time I did something very similar… I held the oven door open with my ‘mitted’ (mitted? emmittened?) hand, and reached into the oven and started to pull out the tray with my bare hand! yeah, that idea didn’t last very long!

you guys always remind me of funny stories!
