Yesterday I was going about my own business, milking my own goats, when Leah pushed me in a snowdrift! Okay, I pushed her first, but that is beside the point 😀 Then she had this crazy idea to dig out a big, really big, snowdrift that we just got from our recent snowstorm. We used to do that quite often when we were little and make ‘igloos’, and we thought it would be fun to dig this one out for the younger people.
So we dug…
…and dug
…and dug
…and dug some more. We had to crawl inside and dig it out little by little. It looked rather funny to see just legs sticking out of the hole 😀 Leah was at one side, digging toward the middle, and I was at the other end, digging toward the middle. You can’t really see the other entrance, but it’s just left of the orange shovel you see in the background.
After a while, Leah stuck a garden hoe handle through to see how close we were to each other. We were excited to see that we weren’t too far from meeting in the middle. She pulled the hoe out and then I peered through the hole. She peered through the hole. I said, “Hi Leah!” but she just kept looking at me with that one eye and didn’t say anything.
So I got to digging at that hole, making it wider, and she did too until…
We could see each others’ faces 😀 I should have had Leah crawl into the other side when I took the picture, so you could get the full effect 😀
I started talking to her, and she started talking to me…
“Huh?”
“Hahaha! You sound so funny!”
“Talk!”
“Hahaha! It’s so quiet! You look so close but you sound far away!”
Then we had a good laughing fit together because our voices sounded so faint, and far off, and a little squeaky. 😀
Later I found out that when I was talking to her through the little ‘eye-hole’, she was talking to me, too, but she thought I didn’t answer. She said, “All I could see was your eye, staring at me!” The snow so muffled our voices that we couldn’t hear a peep, even though we were only a few feet from each other 😀
Bekah and Anna also helped dig out the ‘igloo’ 😀
Tonight I went out and took some more pictures, with Bekah kindly agreeing to be my model (can you model a tunnel?) 😀 Our igloo is at this point, more a ‘tunnel’, but still quite fun 😀 This is the “east entrance”…
…and this is the ‘south entrance’ 😀
Here’s a picture of the tunnel as a whole, complete with markings showing you each of the entrances. That way if you ever decide to come visit our tunnel, you’ll know where to park based on which entrance you want to use 😀
And so there you have it…and now you know why it looked like a snowpile dumped on us!

Picture like those make me glad that I live in Florida!
Actually, I don’t think I mean that. I’ve only seen snow twice in my whole life (I’m almost 32) and sometimes I think I’ve missed out on some fun!
We did that very thing once, when we got an *outrageous* two feet of snow (which is outrageous for WA!) 😉 It was so fun! I like our cloudy/rainy weather better…..right now……..we’ve had enough snow this year. 😉 But that looks like a lot of fun! 😀
Oh what FUN!!!! 🙂 When I was younger we always tried to make tunnels, but never had as much snow as we’ve had the last couple weeks all at once, and I think it would be so much more fun with more snow! 🙂
p.s. We miss you all and Andrew says he wants to come visit the south entrance of your tunnel. I told him “only if I can go with you.” 😉
Lol! Oh *do* tell him to come soon! 😀 And that is a very good idea–we don’t want him getting lost between CT and IN 😀

Oh I wish you would move over to Blogger too. Then we could subscribe to the comment replies instead of having to come back and check all the time for a response!
WordPress has something similar…I’m just waiting for HSB to catch up! 😀 But I know what you mean…it makes life a lot easier that way 😀

Snow forts and snow tunnels are so much fun! My kids always loved them, and I guess you never really outgrow them — my two sons are both in their 20s now, but built one just a year or so ago during a big snowstorm. Nothing like a bunch of snow to bring out the kid in all of us!
