I got this wonderful idea from a friend of mine, SuperAngel, to post the list of books I’ve read in the past year : ) Sadly, I didn’t keep quite as good of track toward the end of the year, but here are the ones that I did keep track of. I divided them into three categories, Chocolate and Ice Cream, Cheesy Potatoes, and Educational–which translates into Fun, Fun and Inspiring, and well, Educational The Educational category wasn’t neccessarily not fun to read, it just took more brain power, which is good for me : )
Chocolate and Ice Cream
Pollyanna Grows Up by Eleanor Porter
Dawn by Eleanor Porter
Miss Billie by Eleanor Porter
That Printer of Udell’s by Harold Bell Wright
The Stouthearted Seven–Orphaned on the Oregon Trail Neta Lohnes Frazier
Belles on Their Toes by Frank and Ernestine Gilbreth
Uncle Tom’s Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe
Elsie’s Motherhood by Martha Finley
Elsie’s Children M. Finley
The Island Queen R.M. Ballantyne
Eight Cousins Louisa May Alcott
Rose in Bloom L.M. Alcott
An Old Fashioned Girl L.M. Alcott
Under the Lilacs L.M. Alcott
Gourmet Potatoes
The Spanish Brothers by Deborah Alcock
God Know’s My Size! Sylvia Tarniceriu
Hinds Feet on High Places by Hannah Hurnard
Mountains of Spices H. Hurnard
Through Gates of Spendor Elisabeth Elliot
The Savage, My Kinsman Elisabeth Elliot
A Biography of Jim Elliot Susan Martins Miller
Educational
The Thousand Year War in the Middle East Richard J. Maybury
Dumbing Us Down John Taylor Gatto
A Different Kind of Teacher John Taylor Gatto
And the greatest book of all…
The Holy Bible
And on my (very short) list of ones I want to read in the coming year…
His Majesty, Queen Hatshepsut (I don’t recommend this one–it was quite depressing!)
Leviticus
II Kings
Luke
Isaiah
The Lost Clue by Mrs. O.F. Walton
Assumptions That Affect Our Lives by Christian Overman
Our Father Abraham, Jewish Roots of the Christian Faith by Marvin R. Wilson
The Underground History of American Education by John Taylor Gatto
(when I get done with this one, I am going to have a party : D It is a monster of a book! Actually, a very good sort of monster–very enlightening, very educational! At some times it is like Ice Cream, and other times it is like Tough, Dry Steak. I am glad I am reading it : )
Walking Wisely by Charles Stanley
The Cross Triumphant by Florence M. Kingsley
The Bible–I want to try to finish this in one year, something I haven’t done before : )
And many others—usually I just come across books that sound like something I want or need to read at the time, and so that is what I read : ) Not a very organized approach!
That’s all I can think of for now : )

Hi Jessica!
If you want any more book title suggestions, I can email you my lists :). Do you recommend all the ones you previously read (except the depressing one!)? There were some on there that sounded interesting that I've never read. Do you own "Cross Triumphant"? I have it…so if you don't own it and want to borrow mine, let me know π
