I am half-heartedly participating in the NaNoWriMo…my first time ever.Β  It isn’t such a good idea to participate half-heartedly, but then I guess I’m getting more writing done than if I hadn’t participated at all πŸ˜€

Tonight..er…actually this very early morning, I was writing and not getting very far, but writing this nonsense did help the words start to flow.Β  I thought perhaps you would enjoy it, so…here you go.Β  Miss Pepper,Β  by the way, is my naughty girl-turned-good in the story.

Only Pepper knows where to go…what she’s doing, and why she’s going there…I only wish that…no, I need to…get inside of her and figure that out. She’s not being very helpful. Helpfulness was not a subject in her schooling, I’m afraid. She’s very self-focused and won’t help me out. Wait. I already said that. So here I sit on this dear blue couch, jabbering about nothingness. Cassia sits at the computer emailing U. Mark and A. Teresa. Mommy sits at the other computer working on the Advent book. Leah sits on the floor drawing a coloring page for the Advent book. I sit here on this old blue couch…wait, I said that already. Again. But nontheless I sit here not knowing how to get around Miss Pepper. Pepper, can I ask you a few questions?

β€œHmmm?”

β€œPepper!”

*she looks up at me, almost glaring* β€œI’m trying to concentrate”

β€œWell…SO AM I! My sister really want to know your story by Christmastime, but I can’t tell them the story if I don’t know it!”

She just keeps scribbling out Hindi letters on her notepad (hmmm…I wonder where I got the idea for Hindi?! πŸ˜‰

β€œAlright then, fine. I’m just going to bed. It’s way too late to have a conversation with you right now anyways, since I’m going shopping at JoAnns tomorrow.”

β€œhmmm…’kay.”

*Sigh*

β€œWait, what? Joann? Who is she?”

Nevermind.

The above nonsense led to writing something a little more story-like…but as you can see I was having issues coming up with a good horses name.Β  Not to be dragged down with such details, I decided to change that part later πŸ˜‰

“The morning was already very warm. Pepper lifted a saddle onto Fugdy-Mudgy-change-this-poor-horseys-name later and then wiped her sweaty hands and face on a nearby towel. The humidity caused her hair to spring into ringlets around her face, which, thought Love-Chocolate, made her very becoming.

If only we could just erase those tense lines in her face, thought Love-Chocolate. She had begun to really care about Pepper in the past few weeks. The two girls worked together often in the stables, and though Pepper was slow to show it, they found they had a common ground in their love for horses.

Pepper was now braiding Fudgey-Mudgey’s mane in a complicated braid Love-Chocolate had never seen before.

β€œHey, where did you learn to do that?” asked Love-Chocolate.

Pepper smiled. β€œDo you want me to show you how?” she asked.

β€œOf course I do! And you know you owe me one since I showed you how to do the double french twist the other day!” Love teased.

Pepper raised an eyebrow and said, β€œWell Nell Snell, don’t you know your knell?” Actually, she didn’t say that…I’m just tired!”

The End.

Wasn’t it amazing?!Β  I know…sometimes I amaze myself, too! (I’m kidding).Β  Β  I don’t know if knell is even a word.Β  It seems like it is, but I’m too tired to look it up.Β  It must be a word…my computer isn’t underlining it in red πŸ˜€

Okay…now I really better go to bed!Β  This is what happens when you let me loose on the computer at 12:19 in the morning πŸ˜€

p.s.Β  I forgot to introduce you to Love-Chocolate.Β  No, I didn’t name her that because I love chocolate (even though I do), but she has 6 other sisters who all have names that go with the fruits of the Spirit, and a ice cream flavor name (they live on Ice Cream Island, if that tells you anything!)Β  I started this story when I was 16 and I *really* want to finish it…someday!Β  My younger sisters keep a’bugging me to do so πŸ˜€Β  Okay…g’night for real!

What a fun story πŸ˜€ I am finishing up the One Year Adventure Novel Curriculum; I know how hard it can be to unlock ones’ linguistic competence!! I usually turn on some good music πŸ˜€

Lol! Thank you πŸ˜€ Those are good ideas…I think I should try both the music and the hot beverage πŸ˜€ Isn’t writing fun?! Have you ever done “Learning to Write the Novel Way”? I’ve wanted to do that one for a long time…ever since about the time I started this story, I think!

Writing is lots of fun- and a BIG challenge! Even a little bitty, barely-gonna-be-24,000-words-long novel seems so long πŸ˜€
I haven’t ever done it- I will check it out though! πŸ˜€ I look forward to seeing what your story is like (if you decide to share πŸ˜€ )
