Last night I made Broccoli Cheese Noodle soup and biscuits.  It was all ready and on the table, and while I was waiting for everybody to come to the table (that can take awhile!), I dipped out the younger ones soup so it could be cooling off.  After a few minutes of studying his soup, Noah said,  "Susannah, there is a bug in here!"  I didn’t believe him, but after looking, I was convinced!  Two little bugs that almost looked like ticks. ICK!  So I scooped them out hoping that he wouldn’t mind eating it anyways….but then, Cassia looked in the whole pot of soup. "Susannah, there are lots of bugs in here!"  I thought, "Oh great! I hope I can scoop all of those out too!"  But after looking in, I knew that supper was a goner.  Lots of little black bugs were cooked out of the broccoli and rose to the top…for us to enjoy.

So, now what’s for supper?  We had hardly any leftovers, and it would take awhile to make something else (it was already 6:30).  So we finally decided on breakfast burritos and egg and cheese biscuits.  Twenty  minutes later we were eating our strange supper….although we do sometimes eat breakfast for supper!

The soup (such as waste of ingredients!) was dumped out.  I almost made broccoli cauliflower salad with the extra broccoli (before I knew it was bug infested). Good thing I didn’t!!

So, if you are going to make something with fresh broccoli, swish it around in salt water first to get rid of the bugs. Or maybe, you don’t want to know that they are there!

    ooh! Such a bummer!

My mom and older sister were cleaning the brocalli (sorry spelling is wrong ) and there were worms and bugs and it was gross so they just gave up with it and I tried giving some to my guinea pigs (after the bugs and worms were gone) and they didnt even want to eat it! But our bunnys did so that was good! So our bunnys got organic brocalii! 🙂

    Have a great day!
