About twelve years ago we met a family through our homeschool group and became really good friends 😀 They lived in town, just across the field and they’d cross the field to come to our house for music lessons or just to play…we had a whole ‘town’ in our barn complete with a money system of acorns, a bank to store them in, a post office, a newspaper…everything! It was so much fun! Our friends went to Russia about 3 years ago and this was the first time since then that we’ve gotten to have them over…and almost for the whole day, too!

The dads and the boys playing Carroms…another fun game. We used to get together almost every Sunday night and mix up some homemade grape juice, pop popcorn, and the dads always played Carroms 😀

The B. family used to be our chicken butchering buddies before they moved away…they always made the work more fun 😀 We used to tease Mr. B. because he kept the livers, gizzards and hearts. Who eats those?! Well guess what we’re eating now??? We liked the livers, and tried cooking the gizzards which did not turn out…have you ever tried chewing on a rubber ball? Even the cats took awhile to eat them. So we got Mr. B, the gizzard expert, to show us how to cook them. So we pressure cooked them today while he was here, and lo and behold, they taste pretty good! Like dark meat. I tried a heart, too. It weirded me out at first, but I found that it tasted good also 🙂

Our goats came home from the fair tonight also…it is hard to believe that the fair is almost over!
Once again, the hour is late, so I’d better head to bed! Leah and I are taking 4 hour shifts with Susannah and Cassia to get up and feed a sick baby goat her medicine 😛 😀 So I’d really better go get some sleep before 2:00 a.m. 😀

By the way (and very off-topic), I went to a prescreening of Courageous last night. It was amazing, and I’m sure you girls will LOVE it! Like all the Sherwood films, it’s both hilarious at times and tear jerkers at others. I was surprised at how much about the movie that the trailer DIDN’T tell you; there’s a major plot twist that the trailer doesn’t even suggest! Plus, there’s lots of little “Easter eggs” throughout the film. I’m going to try to bring the movie to the theater in the town where I’m moving so I can see it again on September 30th!
Hey now! That is not fair! Just kidding! We’re so excited and can’t wait to see it 😀 It’s coming to a town near us, too 😀

No, they aren’t ours…we ‘rent’ them from the people who head up the llama club 🙂 They’re some of our favorite animals, too!
