This wedding cake was so fun! Β Placing the strawberries and doing the chocolate drizzle was my favorite part. Β I did get kind of tense while doing the drizzles though, at first, until I realized that it was going to drizzle down just fine.

When I did reading on ‘chocolate drizzles’, several people said that you can ‘control’ the drizzles. Β I was skeptical that you could do such a thing, but found that they weren’t lying πŸ˜€ Β Some used ganache, a chocolate and whipping cream mixture, and others used chocolate chips and shortening melted together. Β  I decided to do it the chocolate chips and shortening way. Β I think it was a ratio of 1 c. of chocolate chips to 2 T. shortening…but I think I added more shortening and butter until it was as ‘drizzly’ as I wanted it.

I was so excited with how it turned out, Β I took a bunch of pictures to celebrate!

Oh yum!

The wedding is only a 1/4 mile away…thankfully! Β Because I held it in the front seat while Susannah drove ever-so-slowly to the church. Β That’s the longest 1/4 mile I’ve ever seen! Β My arms were so tired and my hands were actually shaking from exhaustion when I was trying to type on the computer after we came back home πŸ˜€

These two cakes were for the rehearsal dinner tonight…

chocolate…

…and vanilla.

Thanks for sharing my excitement πŸ˜€

‘Sweet’ dreams, everyone πŸ˜‰

No, unfortunately it was just for the bridal party…everyone else had brownies and ice cream…which was good, too! πŸ˜€ I do know, though, from the leftover cake pieces and icing, that those tasted good πŸ˜€

Once I made sheet cakes for a wedding…and another time Leah and I made a tiered cake for a wedding anniversary party. And I made two tiered cakes while I was in 4H, but that doesn’t quite count πŸ˜€ You used styrofoam instead of cake on those πŸ˜€ This is my first ‘for real’ wedding cake, lol!

That looks amazing! If you lived a little closer to Nebraska and I had a special event coming up, I would definitely want you to be my baker! Your cake looks even better than the chocolate strawberry cake picture you based it on!
