Quote of the Week

“There is a power in delight that releases everything in your path. You can completely debilitate the enemy by having a sense of wonder because he can’t intimidate you, he can’t make you fearful, and you affect everything he’s doing just by being there. Sometimes you don’t even have to say anything; just you being in a room changes the atmosphere.”

Graham Cooke

Gifted Hands

The autobiography of Ben Carson, the doctor who famously separated the Binder twins who were conjoined at the head.  A very inspiring and interesting book to read, and hee gives credit and glory to God for all that he has been able to do as a doctor 🙂

The Recipe Box

Butter Dips

Yummy breadstick-type biscuit sticks that are quicker to make than breadsticks.  Thank you to the Kemerly family for this recipe 😉

1/2 c. butter

4 c. flour (can use up to 2 c. of whole wheat flour if you wish)

2 T. sugar

1 T. baking powder

1 t. salt

2 c. milk

Melt butter on a cookie sheet in oven while oven preheats.  Remove pan.  Mix dry ingredients.  Add milk and stir until a soft dough forms.  Turn dough onto a well floured counter top.  Gently knead 10 times.  Dough should be quite soft.  Roll or pat into a large rectangle, 1/4 inch thick.  Cut into strips about 1×4 inches.  Dip each strip into the melted butter in the pan, coating both sides.  Arrange strips closely together on cookie sheet.  Bake at 425° for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.

Cute Quotes

After Noah finished putting batteries into Isaiah’s flashlight he just got for his birthday, he turned it on and said, “Man!  That’s way bright!”

Isaiah walked up to the stove and saw blueberry scones and said, “Blueberry stones?”

On our way home from our last trip, Charissa was reading signs out loud to pass the time and read one that said something about tax collecting.  She read, “Tax Collector?  Oh brother!  Who do they think they are?  Caesar Augustus?!”

One night Jessica was putting on some face cream.  Noah was watching and said, “What is that for?”

Jessica teasingly replied, “To make my skin beautiful.  Is it working?”

Noah said, “I have no idea, I didn’t see it yet!”

Love the van. Reminds me of a slurry tanker we saw in Devon, painted with the words, “Warning. This tank is full of political promises”.

awww….wow. That bride video was so precious! Thanx for sharing! “Blueberry STONES!!!” brilliant! love. Ceasar Agustus… THAT sounds like something my siblings would say!!! And Jessica, your face is already beautiful. <3
A little P.S. story concerning that face cream quote:
My sisters friend was applying foundation last winter when her little brother came in to observe her.
    "What's that stuff?" he asked.
"It's makeup. It covers the bad spots."
In typical little-brother fashion, "Oh, like, your WHOLE FACE????" (this kid was 7 at the time and is quite the character)
So later, little boy is taking hot shower and sister comes into bathroom and says through the shower curtain, "Hey Paul? Remember what you said about my face earlier?"
    *He laughs" "Yeah!"
"This is payback" she informed him, before dumping a handful of fresh, freezing snow on his head!!!! 😀

I grew up in the Midwest, and often vacationed in Indiana. Your photos of the Midwestern landscape touch a special place in my heart. Now I live on the eastern seaboard, and while the Atlantic ocean is lovely, nothing is more beautiful to me than the sunlight on a cornfield at any time of day.
