Quote of the Week

“We want to know what God has in store for us in the future, but we need to ask, what does God want us to do right here, right now?  Often we are too afraid to ask that question.  If you aren’t sure, pick something and start.”

Sarah Mally

Heaven is For Real

We highly recommend this book!  Mommy read this book aloud to us after supper and we were always begging for more each time 🙂  With 14 siblings in heaven, this book was very special to us (several of us girls  were crying during certain parts of it 😉  )   When you’re finished, you’ll be wanting heaven even more.  🙂

The Recipe Box

We have been having so much fun finding new and yummy ‘Gaps-legal’ recipes.  We’re almost eating better that we were before our ‘diet’, and by better, we don’t just mean healthwise but tasty-wise, too 😀  Since we’ve haven’t had any Seven Sisters Treaures for awhile, we’re giving you two recipes this time 😉  One sweet, one savory.

Chocolate Pudding

When you can’t have sugar, this is one of the best ways to get your chocolate in 😀

7 avocados

7 bananas

3/4 c. cocoa powder (can add more)

6 T. coconut oil, melted

1 t. salt

1 T. vanilla

1/2 c. honey

Blend all together in a food processor or blender until bananas and avocados are pureéd and all is smoothly blended together.  Chill.   Serve with whipped cream.  Serves 12.

Bacon-Avocado Salad

We like this *so* much!  It is going on our “4th of July menu” for sure!

1 head dark green lettuce, washed, dried, and torn into bite-sized pieces

2 avocados, peeled and diced

4-6 slices of bacon, cooked and crumbled into bite sized pieces

6 hard boiled eggs

Dressing:

 – combine all ingredients and mix well –

1 c. olive oil

1/2 c. apple cider vinegar

1 tsp. onion powder

2 T. mustard

2-3 cloves minced garlic

1/2 tsp. dried thyme

1/2 tsp. dried basil

1 tsp. salt

Place lettuce in bowl and sprinkle bacon, eggs and avocados over it.  Pour dressing over the top and gently toss.

Farmgirl Favorites

We came across this funny story while reading on the Harp Column’s harp forum:

“Years ago I was loading a harp into my car in front of my house. Two adolescent boys, maybe 12 or 13, were walking by. “Hey mistah(Boston accent),” one of them said to me,”Is that a hahp?” “Yeh” I said. The kid turned to his friend and said, “See, I told you it wasn’t a banjo!” 😀

from Bright Lights Leaders Training, How to Develop a Ministry

Areas of ministry we can do right now:

-prayer

-witnessing

-discipleship, if even ‘just’ your own siblings

-good works

-writing ministry – doesn’t have to mean you have to write a book necessarily – it could be an encouraging note to someone, or writing down how God is working in your life, so that you can  share it with others later.

Cute Quotes

Isaiah asked Leah the other day,

“Three barns snacked (stacked) up, and three houses snacked up, can God carry that whole thing?”

Noah told Jessica that he had a dream the previous night that he and Isaiah were with Daddy in the weeds behind the grain building…”and me and Isaiah had guns, only they were real guns, and Daddy and Isaiah and me were trying to shoot some raccoons but they wouldn’t go dead!”

Little boys’ dreams are adorable!  We girls never had dreams of shooting coons 😀

Isaiah cut his finger outside and it was bleeding, so he asked Susannah to get a band-aid for him “with the sour stuff on it.”  meaning, salve 😀

One Saturday evening Noah told Jessica that Isaiah burned his hand when he was ironing hi…s underwear?  Bekah was helping them iron their church clothes and they were so excited they wanted to iron everything, I guess!!!  😀  Don’t worry…the burn wasn’t serious and we don’t usually let them use the iron 😀

Great job on the picture Charissa! (: I love the otter video, that’s so cute! and the boy’s “quotes” are so cute! My favorite was Isaiah asking if God could carry the barns and houses. Where do little kids come up with such cute things? (:
Can’t wait to read “Heaven is for Real”, I put it on hold at the library (mind you they have at least 7 copies) and I was the 294th person in line to read it!(: I’m glad so many people are reading it, but I don’t want to wait that long, lol.

What a great post! Good job with the picture Charissa – it is really neat! I loved all the videos and quotes too. That chocolate pudding looks a little like something we like to make called Avocado Pie. It is sooo good, so I thought I would share the recipe with you all! (I don’t know if it would be on the Gaps-legal diet, but it is raw and has no sugar.)

    Crust:
    Finely chopped walnuts
    finely chopped dates
    peanut butter

    Filling:
    Avocados (about 5)
    Cocoa powder
    Maple syrup (or honey)

Pack walnuts & dates into a pie pan, and then spread peanut butter over it. Place pitted & pealed avocados in blender, with cocoa powder & maple syrup to taste. Blend until smooth – it should be a rich chocolate pudding consistency. Pour into crust. Place in freezer until firm (usually at least over night).

It sounds weird, but it’s actually really good. I hope you can try it! 🙂

By the way, what did you mean when you said you have 14 siblings in heaven? Are you serious?! 🙁 That means there would have been 23 children in your family???!!!!!!! 😯 WOWEE!!!! 😀

Yes! We are going to have the biggest family reunion in heaven ever 🙂 13 of our siblings were miscarriages, one little boy was stillborn…his name is Noah Ross and he would have been almost 21 years old 😀 That would be so strange (and very fun!) to have a brother that age 😀 I’m excited that I’ll get to see him again someday, along with all my other brothers and sisters (and older sisters at that!)
