The Cross and the Switchblade

note:  some material in this book may not be suitable for younger readers.  It is all true story and very challenging/encouraging/inspiring, but does mention gangs, drugs, etc.

The Recipe Box

Taco Salad

definitely one of our favorites!

1 pkg Taco seasoning mix or make your own

2 lbs. hamburger

1 small onion, diced

2 cans kidney beans, drained

2 heads lettuce, shredded

2-3 fresh tomatos, diced

1-1/2 lbs. shredded cheese

2 -16 oz. bottles of Western dressing OR one recipe of homemade dressing

2 pkgs. taco chips…we like Doritos.  Very nutritious!

Brown hamburger, add taco seasoning mix and cook until flavors have absorbed into the meat.  Cool.  Mix all but the chips together in a large bowl and refrigerate.  Serve on top of, or with Doritos.  This makes enough for all 11 of us to have our fill for dinner, and then some for lunch the next day 😀

Cute Quotes

Earlier this week while we were making cookies, Isaiah asked to have part of one.  Since they were for our trip, we said ‘no’.  He walked away saying, “I wish I was a daddy, b’cause I could have whatever I want!”  Apparently he has noticed how we always favor Daddy and let him take a cookie no matter what 😀

We were eating graham crackers in the van on the way home from church, and Isaiah took Leah’s braid and wiped his hands on it to be ornery and said, “I’m getting it all crumbsy!”

Isaiah was wrapping a present in a gift bag and asked Leah if she knew where some ‘trash stuff’ to ‘put in the top’ was.  He was talking about tissue paper 😀

To give credit where credit is due, that comic is really complements of SacredSandwich.com. 😉

I have read the Cross and the Switchblade, and it is an eye-opening (though mature) book. David Wilkerson is Pentecostal, and I have appreciated his level-headed critiques (I have a hobby of studying the Charismatic movement), of the beliefs of the movement. 😉

Hee hee! Those dogs always make me laugh. 😀
