Quote of the Week

“The devil would be kicking up his heels in glee if we chose to worry about the future at the neglect of doing our duty to our neighbors – growing numbers of them that there be – and doing all in the sweet name of our Lord Jesus…be still.”

“The devil wants us a-running about tearing our hair with fear of what might happen to us…but our sweet Lord Jesus, he wants us to obey.”

~excerpts from Douglas Bond’s book, “Duncan’s War”

The Bookshelf

There are many Lamplighter Publishing books that we really like, and this one is at the top of the list for most of us!  A wonderful story that is encouraging and edifying.

The Recipe Box

Hashbrown Casserole

This recipe was given to us during one of our giveaways we had, and it has quickly become our favorite “Friday breakfast”!  It can be easily mixed up and put in the fridge the night before so that all you have to do is pop it in the oven in the morning 🙂

1 – 2 lb. bag frozen hash browns

1 can cream of chicken soup

1 can cream of mushroom soup (we use the “Uncanned Condensed Soup” recipe for both of these)

1/2 c. mayonaise

1/2 c. sour cream (we have substituted the mayo with more sour cream and it still turned out yummy!)

1/4 onion

2 c. shredded cheese

1 lb. ground sausage, browned (we’ve also done ham, chopped into little pieces)

2 cups milk (approx.)

Mix all the ingredients together except milk.  Add enough milk so to make the mixture not too runny, but not too stiff–just however you like it!  Pour into a greased 9″ x 13″ pan and bake at 350° F for 40-45 min. or until heated through.

Farmgirl Favorites

Last week we were doing some work for the violin teacher, and this was our job…to hang up11 violins on her clothesline!  Someone had given them to her, and the cases had dust mites in them, so we hung up the violins so that we could sweep out the cases

Blessed Femina

We love looking at, and reading this blog…it is so pretty and lovely .

Cute Quotes

Inspired by little Virginia Phillips, we have started trying to teach Isaiah to quote Psalm 1.  It is oh so cute to hear him!  Recently we had a sidewalk poured and everyone had been stressing to the two boys especially that you do not walk on it until Daddy says!

One day Leah was sitting in the van with Isaiah and she and Cassia were helping him say his verse.

Leah:”Blessed is the man”

Isaiah:”Blessed is da man”

Leah:”That walketh not…”

Isaiah:”Dat walketh not, um, Leah, can we walk on the sidewalk now?”

Noah referring to a gluestick: “You know those chapstick glue things?”

Noah again 🙂  “What time o’clock is it?”

The little girls like to go with Daddy to the barber when he gets his hair cut.  One evening a few years ago, when they had just come back, Anna was telling the older girls about it and said, “Girls, you know the hair growing place?”

Note: The Seven Sisters Treasures is a weekly post where we share some of our favorite things.  We try to post  a new one every Friday.  Hope you enjoy!  ~The Farmgirls

Yes! "The Wide Wide World" is another one of our favorites! And Cassia has "Jessica's First Prayer" too : )

An iPad is like a large iPod touch…sort of like a laptop where you can touch the screen for all the buttons…

Leastaways, that's what I understand it to be! 😀

That is a LOVELY photo on top! As usual:) But I especially like this one:D The quotes are a very good reminder – we are not to be "serving the Lord" at the expense of our family and neighbors! Their souls and lives are just as important as everyone else's, and I think we have a greater responsibility to reach them!

I have heard good things about that book, but I've not read it yet:) Maybe sometime… 😀

I can't hear the music on the video, so it's not too exciting:) But he does look a little funny tapping his fingers so rapidly, not on the piano! 🙂

I LOVE the hash brown casserole! It is SOOOOO good! A nice break from traditional egg and bread casseroles:D

"A Girl Should Remember" was very nice:) It's a good way to sum up some things that a girl should indeed remember! 😀

Hanging up those violins would SCARE me! What if a breeze had come in! D: HORRORS! 😀 Just kidding:) But I don't think I'd be brave enough to do it:)

    That is a nice blog:)

Cute quotes, of course:) I like that one with Isaiah and the sidewalk the best:) Such a boy 😀

MUCH love and a hug! It was sooo nice to see you yesterday!
