Quote of the Week

“People are just as happy as they make up their minds to be.”

~Abraham Lincoln

 The Bookshelf

Printed in the 1880’s,  “The Complete Home” by Mrs. Julia Mc.Nair Wright is a very neat, very old book on homemaking.  The book is almost like a journal of an aunt who teaches her three very different nieces about homemaking.  She teaches them many things from the actual keeping of a house to the attitudes and character qualities that go along with keeping a home.  In the very back there is a whole list of all kinds of old fashioned remedies, recipes, etc!  Some things in the book do not apply to us in this time, of course, but I have really enjoyed reading it 🙂  If you would like to read a little more about it, go to this weeks“A Chest of Hopes” post over at Feelin’ Feminine.

Video of the Week

Some of you may remember when we posted the Gold Miner videos…well here is a new one from the same people 🙂  This one is promoting Rick Green, a Godly conservative candidate for the Texas Supreme Court.  Though we aren’t from Texas, we are happy to share it with you all 😀  It is hilarious!

Chuck Norris Did What?!?!

The Recipe Box

 Hot Artichoke Dip

Before you say “yuck!” you really should try this!  When I first heard the name it didn’t sound all that wonderful to me, but when I tried it I wanted to eat up the whole bowl 🙂 ~Jessica

1 can artichoke hearts, chopped fine

2 T. artichoke juice from can

1 cup real mayonnaise

1 c. Parmesan cheese

8 oz. cream cheese

1/4 t. dill weed

1/4 t. garlic powder

Beat all ingredients until smooth and creamy.  Pour into a small casserole dish (8″x8″) and bake at 350 degrees Farenheit for 30 minutes or until hot.  Serve with Wheat Thins or any other cracker.  DE licious!

Funny Quotes

Since the quotes for this week are from things that we older girls have said recently, we have titled this section “Funny Quotes” instead of “Cute Quotes”   We thought it fit better

The other day I was listening to a sermon on my cell phone (it has a small MP3 player built into it) and then I paused it, and got busy doing other things.  I was reading on my bed with the phone beside me when Leah came up, and being ornery (yes! Leah is ornery :-D), pushed the “play” button to see what I had been listening to.  And what do you suppose comes out of the phone?!  It just so happened to be at a point where he yelled, “Leave me alone!”.   I paused it right away and Leah and I just laughed and laughed and laughed!  Then she pushed the play button again and he hollers, “You keep tormenting me!”  Then of course we all started laughing all over again .  I wonder what on earth Leah has done to my phone?!  How on earth has she been tormenting it? .

~Jessica

Cassia loves coffee, and all coffee smells!  Last week Jessica was visiting some friends for the week and got some coffee from a girl who had been to Papua New Guinea, and so she put the coffee in her suitcase.  A few nights ago Leah called Cassia into the room and asked her if she wanted to smell some coffee.  Leah and I each had a suitcase, and Leah’s was stacked on top of Jessica’s in the room. She told Cassia that the suitcase smelled like it (even though the coffee had been out of there for a few days) and so Cassia went over and stuck her head in it…the only problem is, Cassia had her head in the wrong suitcase!    She called to Leah with her head in the suitcase, “I don’t smell anything!”

Note: The Seven Sisters Treasures is a weekly post where we share some of our favorite things.  We try to post  a new one every Friday.  Hope you enjoy!  ~The Farmgirls

How are you all doing? It seems like forever since we saw each other… okay, at least a month.

God bless! (Please pass along a hug from me to all the girls and your mom!)

I thought you were only supposed to have one account per house?!? Maybe not… I have around 790 (now that everything was multiplied by ten) and I'm saving up for a 50 dollar giftcard to Amazon. 🙂
