  Something to Laugh About

 Something else to laugh about

A few days ago, I brought up a Word document to start writing our Christmas newsletter.  I just barely got it started, and told the rest of the girls to feel free to add to it.   Later, I came back and here is what I found from my dear sister Susannah!  Remember how I said that she can be a clown sometimes?!  Enjoy!

(In case you wonder who “Pooh” and “Rue” are:  Pooh was our dear little inside dog who ‘wrote’ our last Christmas newsletter, and the year before, “Rue” the cat was co-editor.  Both have died since .)

   ~Jessica

And in memory of Rue…who was going to help Pooh last year….or was it the year before? Maybe it was two years ago? Now that I’m thinkin’ about it, I think it was two and a half years ago.  You know, I may just not know…or it could have been three and one quarter years ago. Maybe whoever is reading this just doesn’t know….maybe I know. Maybe I don’t know. Maybe I might know. Maybe I think I know and I really don’t know, but I think I know that maybe I don’t know that I know. Am I confused? I don’t know! Maybe I don’t know that I am confused! Or MAYBE, I have no idea what I am writing! Do you know? Maybe you don’t know! Maybe you “think” that you know that either you know or don’t know! Are you confused? You don’t know! Maybe you do know that you don’t know, OR, you don’t know that you do know! WHAT AM I TALKING ABOUT? Nothing of course!  I’m not talking! I’m TYPING!!!!  Heee heee heee heeee!!!! You are probably reading all of this, and wondering at the same time, “WHY am I reading this?” Maybe, you thought you should have stopped at the first word. But the first word lead you to the second word, and the second word lead you to the third word. And you just couldn’t STOP!!!!!  WHY? Because…..that is just the way you are!! J  Have a nice day!!!!

The Recipe Box

Sweet Potato Casserole

(since Thanksgiving is coming up, we thought we’d share our favorite Thanksgiving dinner recipes)

1 1/2 c. sugar

8 c. sweet potatoes, cooked and mashed

4 eggs, beaten

1/2 c. melted butter

1 1/3 c. canned milk

3 t. pumpkin pie spice

4 t. vanilla

Topping:

1 1/2 c. brown sugar

2 c. chopped nuts

1 c. flour

2/3 c. melted butter

2 c. coconut

Mix first 7 ingredients.  Place in a greased 9 x 13 pan.  In another bowl, combine the topping ingredients.  Sprinkle over the top of the potato mixture.  Bake at 350 degrees F for 45 minutes.  We like to make this a day or two ahead and put it in the fridge, that way it is one less thing to dirty up the dishes on Thanksgiving day Smileys

Cute Quotes

November 7th, 2009  by Leah

  Noah said to me tonight:

 Noah:  “You know Fireproof?”

  Leah: “Yeah”

N: “You know when the house is on fire?  It’s a brick house!”

  L: “Yep”

N: “And I thought it was a stick house, or a strw house, or a siding house, and I couldn’t see, and I was like ‘huh?’

Cassia was making our hairspray*, and as she was cutting up an orange for it, Noah smelled the oranges and wanted to eat some.  We said, no, that it was for hairspray.

“What is it for?”  he asked.

I was being silly with him and said, “To make me beautiful!”

He replied, “And make you smell beautiful, too, right?!”

“That’s right!”   😀

*Yes, I know…kind of strange to make hairspray : D  But it works, and it’s cheaper and healthier!  We found this recipe at Jocelyn’s blog : )
