Miss Kay’s Duck Commander Kitchen

Our new favorite cookbook!  We’ve made multiple recipes out of here and they’ve all been delicious!

Miss Kay’s Biscuits

Not only do we love watching Duck Dynasty, we also love Miss Kay’s cookbook!  These biscuits are our new favorite recipe!

4 cups biscuit mix (or one recipe of our Sky High Biscuits–just the dry ingredients)

2 cups sour cream

1 partial can of 7UP or Sprite (we use 1/4 c. milk)

4 T. butter

Heat oven to 375°F.  In a large bowl mix together the biscuit mix and sour cream with a pastry blender. Add the 7UP a little at a time and mix with a fork until the dough forms a ball.  Don’t overdo the liquid!

Roll out the dough to about 1/2″ thick.  Melt the butter in a 9×13″ pan.  Cut out the biscuits, dip each one in the melted butter, and place them close together in the pan.  Bake for 20 minutes or until golden.

Videos of the Week

This video is about some of the Karen people from Myanmar, the same Karen that Adoniram Judson went to as a missionary.  They are being persecuted right now and some are coming to America.  It was interesting to note how they did not mind adjusting to the cold or to the factory because, “We don’t have to worry about being killed.”  Also, the older man saying that he liked didn’t like wearing boots…’they are too heavy!’ 🙂

Visit the coldest village on earth, Oymyakon, Russia!

Coldest Village by Seven Sisters Blog

So cold you must keep your car running unless it’s in the garage…otherwise, it won’t start.  Average January temperature is -60° F.

Pretty much the only thing to buy in the market is meat and fish, because there aren’t many crops.

The people of Oymyakon can’t have a sewer system because the ground is too frozen…so you have to use an outhouse!

Cute Quotes

Isaiah asked one of his sisters what he could have for dessert the other day. She asked him if he thought he had to have dessert after every meal. His response?

“But I didn’t have any the day after yesterday!”

Jessica asked Graham what he wanted for lunch.

Isaiah said, “I’m having the meatballs and rice and bread we had last night!”

Graham (the 5 year old we babysit) told her, “I want what Isaiah is having, because that sounds de-wicious!”

Coming in from riding his bike one day this summer, Isaiah went straight to the freezer saying, “I need to get an ice pack because my hair is so hot!
