Quote of the Week

“It doesn’t matter, really, how great the pressure is; it only matters where the pressure lies.  See that it never comes between you and the Lord–then, the greater the pressure, the more it presses you to His breast.”

Video of the Week

Kseniya Simonova – Ukraine’s Got Talent

This girl was a contestant in Ukraine’s Got Talent…she is standing behind a table that is covered in sand and lit from beneath.  She is telling the story of one of the aerial bombings of Kiev during World War II.  You will see one of the famous monuments that stands today in Kiev that commemorates those bombings.

And now…on a lighter note…the never ending crazy question:
We love this family’s videos!

The Recipe Box

Yummyful Oatmeal

I do not usually like the plain old oatmeal…but this is very, well, yummyful!!! Don’t ask if it’s healthy….

~Jessica

2 beaten eggs

3 1/2 c. milk

1 c. brown sugar (we use evaporated cane juice, and have used white sugar before)

2 c. oatmeal

1/2 t. salt

1/4 c. butter

Beat eggs and sugar together.  Mix in milk and salt.  Cook and stir until bubbly.  Stir in oatmeal and cook until bubbly again.  Add butter; cover and remove from heat.  Let stand 5 minutes.  Serve with milk. Makes enough for about 6(?) people.

Tagged and Awarded

Thank you very much to the girls who have tagged and awarded us!  We have had these in our drafts for a very long time and are finally posting them : D

Thank you Swordwielding Maiden for this award : )  It is so much fun that we knew you in person, long before we started blogging : D  Also, someone else awarded us this same award, and we cannot find the comment you left us or remember who you were.   So, if it was you, leave us a comment so we can acknowledge you, too!!!

Since we are supposed to write about seven things that most people don’t know about us, and there are seven of us girls, we decided to do one each : )

Jessica~ Does not like fish sticks and most certainly does not like shrimp!  Even though she’s never tried it!  Once she almost convinced herself to eat one, but  decided to look at it closely, first, and that changed her mind!

Leah~ Does not like mustard…never has liked it…is able to spot even a little tiny dot of it in the middle of a sandwich (Susannah and Jessica tried this out once!)…has kept trying it over the years….and still doesn’t like it!

Susannah~  Loves to do research and loves to give the goats their shots!!!

Cassia~ she appears to be quiet, but is really quite exuberant at home and around people that she knows really well : D

Anna~ LOVES pigs and wouldn’t mind keeping one in the house!!!!

Bekah~ is a very servant hearted little girl, and loves to do animal chores…when we did Secret Servants, we all wrote on a piece of paper what our favorite candy was, and chores that we would especially appreciate having done for us.  Everyone had on their list, “Do my animal chores”.  Everyone, that is, except Bekah…she wrote, “Do NOT do my animals!”

Charissa~ especially loves to play with Noah and Isaiah and carry them around 🙂  She also has a very sweet smile!

Now the rules for this award are:

1.Thank the person who gave you the award.
2.Copy the award the award to your pictures, save it and upload it to your post.
3.Post it on your blog.
4.Tell us 7 things about you that the readers don’t know.
5.Link 7 new bloggers as recipients.
6.Notify winners of award with a comment on their blog.
7.Keep being an encouragement!!!

Seven people  we awarded are:

MaideninTraining, MissLadybug, Penguinlover, Goatgirl47, Bonnetgirl, Sister2sister, Craftygirlkate

Cute Quotes

When Bekah and Charissa were little, they called icebergs, icebergers.

Found in the family journal, dated 4.27.06

   “Right now I’m fifty-five, then I’ll be sixty-five, seventy-five, eighty-five, ninety-five, then ten-de-five!”

~Charissa

11.9.05

Bekah: Jessica, do you know where Mrs. Potato Head’s ear is?”

Jessica: No, maybe Mr. Potato Head swallowed it 🙂

Bekah & Charissa: Huh-uh!

Charissa: Look in his swallowed.

( to ‘look in his swallowed’ indicates the storage compartment on Mr. Potato Head a.k.a his stomach!)

2.3.06

Charissa:“When I’m bigger, I’m going to go to Merica (America), like when I’m a mommy!”

Leah: “We are in America”

Charissa: “Huh-uh! We’re in Indiana!”

 2.4.10

Isaiah asked, “Can we watch Chip and Nail?” (Meaning “Chip and Dale”)

Note: The Seven Sisters Treasures is a weekly post where we share some of our favorite things.  We try to post  a new one every Friday.  Hope you enjoy!  ~The Farmgirls
