The sun has been shining, flowers are blooming, the woods are starting to look misty green, and yesterday I got to smell dirt for the first time this year 😀
I’ve been thinking that I can’t wait to smell freshly turned dirt, and yesterday I got my wish since the farmer that farms the field behind us started plowing.
Sweet the rain’s new fall
Sunlit from heaven,
Like the first dewfall
On the first grass.
Praise for the sweetness
Of the wet garden,
Sprung in completeness
Where His feet pass.
Cassia and I were having a ‘discussion’ on whether or not dirt smelled good. She said, “It kinda does and kinda doesn’t.” I said, “There’s no kinda doesn’t about it!” 😀 Poor Cassia is outnumbered 10-1 on the poll-of-whether-dirt-smells-good-or-not 😀 When I went out to feed my goats last night, I just sniffed and sniffed and SNIFFED!
Spring came quick to Indiana…usually March is pretty wet and dreary. Not this year! The first day of spring felt like the first day of summer and we’ve had record breaking highs eight days in a row now. The lilacs are beginning to bud, the peach tree is blooming, and everything is greening up fast. Earlier this month, one of the girls said, “If this is what spring is like, I wonder what summer will be!” Then someone else said, “Technically, this is still winter…so if this is winter, what will spring and summer be like?” 😀
Now I can’t wait for my first whiff of freshly cut grass this year…

Dad’s out right now mowing one of his hay fields. It’s too far off to smell anything though…

and yes the weather has been amazing :). I’m so glad it’s like this and that were not having a blizzard…dad said it’s the record hotness for March since 1920 O_o :).

Here in Seattle we had snow yesterday and beautiful clear blue skies and sunshine today. We are supposed to have sun all day tomorrow with no more rain until Sunday. This years winter was like sping here, and I too am curious what summer will be like this year and am hoping for warm weather and no rain (which is not typical summer weather in Seattle.)
Have you all ever met either in person or online the Maxwell’s? Steve and Teri Maxwell and family have a traveling ministry doing homeschooling, etc, conferences and worshops as well as concerts. They are dear friends of ours and your blog often reminds me of theirs, and you seem to have a lot in common with the family, and thought perhaps you know them.
