As most of you know, we girls have a tradition that we do every Christmas where we shut our bedroom doors, post a sign on the outside warning anyone who doesn’t ‘live’ in that room to keep out, and then we begin to rearrange, redecorate, redo our rooms!
So welcome to the tour!ย When we showed it to our family, we had music playing, so if you’d like music for your tour, here’s what we played for ours ๐
This year Leah asked me, “If I do the work of cleaning and sewing, will you fund some of my ideas?!”ย ๐ย Since Leah usually has some pretty neat ideas when it comes to decorating, and I was also pretty busy and didn’t have time to do some extra sewing, I agreed!
One of her ideas was to get a new curtain rod and to make new curtains.ย I happened to already have some sheer material in one of my fabric Rubbermaid tubs, and I learned how to hem up sheer material, thanks to the ever helpful Pinterest! ๐ย (I did the ‘double-stitched seam’ by the way…in case you wanted to know which method I used in the link.)
ย This is what you see when you walk in the door…we really love all the floor space that we have in this corner!ย We ended up stacking two pieces of our furniture, so it’s given our room a much more open feeling ๐
This is the furniture we stacked…our beehive bookcases on top of our vanity.ย We took the mirror off of the back (it screws on), and carefully put our bookshelves on top.ย We also love last year’s Christmas symphony performance poster, so we hung that up again.ย (We had it up last year, but never did a post ๐ )

Leah made us new pillow shams and decorative pillows ๐
ย She is also our chalkboard artist. We have little stars that Leah made last year out of sticks and covered with glitter.ย They look so pretty sparkling in the Christmas lights!
The pillows on the left and right are made out of an old blouse that none of us wore.ย We loved the tucks and the Battenburg lace on it, though, so Leah repurposed it ๐ย She saw a pillow like the red one at JoAnn Fabrics, and made one that I think is even cuter!
I hot-glued lace to our old window shades…it looks so pretty now!
Another one of Leah’s sparkly stars, along with one of our favorite pictures from our family photoshoot hang over our desk ๐ย The other picture (which is hard to see here), is one of Leah, Isaiah and I in front of the Cessna 172 that we got to fly for our Discovery Flights this year.
All of the pretty pillows and pillow covers Leah made ๐ย She made our pillow shams look like regular white pillow cases, only with pretty lace edging….oohhhh I love it!
A close up of our new curtain rod ๐ย I tried putting in the new curtain rod hangers with one of Daddy’s power screwdrivers.ย I thought, “I’ve used his screwdriver before…what could go wrong?”ย Well, the trim wood is hard wood.ย And I got a screw so stuck that I couldn’t put it in OR out! ๐ย That’s what could go wrong!ย Thankfully Daddy is a genius at fixing these things and he got it put right up ๐
More of Leah’s pillows.ย She made those flowers on the left pillow!
Perhaps the most work Leah did was to paint our closet doors!ย We’ve had them up for several years and just haven’t gotten around to painting them.ย I went to Texas for a week in November and that’s when Leah got them painted ๐ย It makes our room look even ‘cleaner’.
We always like to do something out of the ordinary that the rest of our sisters aren’t expecting for us to do, so painting the closet doors, plus stacking the bookcases on top of the vanity was our ‘big’ surprise this year ๐
And that…is the end!ย Thank you for coming to our annual Christmas tour ๐
