Our blog has been kind of quiet for awhile…but our house sure hasn’t been!

Firstly…we finished the last of the applesauce today!!! ย YAY! ย That makes for about 64 quarts, I think. ย So that means we can have about a quart a week with a few more for wiggle room ๐Ÿ˜€

Then, we had a wonderful lady from India, whose name is Asha, stay with us over last weekend! ย We girls learned SO much just listening to her talk about her life there. ย And it made us want to go see India, too, so we joked that we needed to take another ‘East trip’, only go to the Far East ๐Ÿ˜€

When I was a little girl I read about Amy Carmichael and Gladys Aylward and was convinced that I was going to grow up to be a missionary like them…only I was going to take care of all the orphans in India and China ๐Ÿ˜€ ย Mommy told me she didn’t think that was quite possible to take care of them all, but it took me awhile before I accepted that! ย The neat thing is, some of the ‘mothers helpers’ that helped take care of Asha and her siblings were from Dohnavur, which I thought was very amazing indeed ๐Ÿ˜‰

During her stay she was so nice to write both her name and our names in Hindi…

Is that neat or what?! ย ๐Ÿ˜€ ย Anna and I got online and looked up the Hindi alphabet and started scribbling. ย Which I’m sure is what our Hindi letters look like! ย What you see below is what she did…

We also got to play our instruments and sing for her

We missed her so much when she left on Monday! ย She was such a fun lady to be around (and had a fun mischievous side that we loved!)

This is Isaiah just being plain silly! ย He and Noah dug out nearly every headband and hair ribbon we own and the picture you see is the result ๐Ÿ˜€

Funny boy!

Speaking of silly…

We girls saw that Courageous is coming out on dvd on January 17th…and saw this hilarious video:

So…naturally…we had to do our own version!

We were finishing up the dishes before we did our ‘performance’ for Daddy and Mommy…that’s why these funny girls are washing dishes with ball caps and sunglasses ๐Ÿ˜€

They had us laughing SO hard!

We also got some new chicks, who will hopefully be a new set of layers this spring.

Right now they’re living in our entryway to keep out of the cold. ย It’s really cute to hear them chirp and cheep…and funny when they get scared at random things. ย We started a video on YouTube one day, and suddenly heard a bunch of scurrying as they ran to a corner in their box to get away from the unknown ‘frightening’ noises.

Aren’t they cute little critters?

The girls have been making lots of goodies for Thanksgiving today, too. ย These are some pumpkin cheesecake bars Susannah made–which taste very good by the way! ย  She had a little bit extra so we all got a ‘preview’…er…’pretaste’. ย I wasn’t sure how fun a GAPS legal Thanksgiving was going to be, but after we planned it out, and discovered we could remake most of our favorites GAPS legal plus have a few extra yummies beside, I now am convinced I like this Thanksgiving menu as much as our regular menu ๐Ÿ˜€

We’ve also been busy on other certain projects ๐Ÿ˜‰ ย Leah was painting upstairs for awhile today…the outcome of her work is extremely charming!

Don’t you wish you knew what it was for?! ย ๐Ÿ˜€

More projects…soon to be revealed!

Some other projects I was working on today…

Isaiah wanted to make ‘snockings’, too, so he got out some paper, scissors and a stapler and made some of his own ๐Ÿ˜€

The finished product…he is so adorable!

Notice in the background both Susannah and Mommy are busily working on the computer?! ย  Mommy’s working on an Advent e-book and Susannah’s working on the charts for the Scripture memory part of it. ย I’ve gotten to proofread some what she has finished, and though you could say I’m biased, I like it. ย She’s hoping to have Week One ready on our Etsy shop this Friday—we gotta get hoppin’ ๐Ÿ˜€

Another project that I finished yesterday. ย I’ve had material for this since October, and I just got around to finishing it. ย Now…the question is–do I keep it, or do I sell it?! ย My original plan was to sell it, but every time I try it on it calls my name ๐Ÿ˜€

We have a little surprise we’re going to announce (besides the new Advent book Mommy is writing), so come take a peek over here on Friday and we’ll tell you what it is ๐Ÿ˜€

It was a beautiful day today, perfect for washing windows…

Charissa did a really good job, too ๐Ÿ™‚

We’ve been thankful for the many good days we’ve been having lately, because our dryer broke, and do you know how impossible it is to dry 3 to 4 loads of laundry a day when it’s raining?!! ย ๐Ÿ˜€ ย It rained a couple of days, but thankfully we have a small laundromat in town, so we got to go in and use that. ย  It has made me think of the Dixon’s often and admire their patience in drying their laundry…especially in the rainy season in Costa Rica!

And speaking of thankfulness…have a wonderfully happy, and truly thankful Thanksgiving!

What top 5 or 10 things are you thankful for today?

p.s. ย by the way, did you know that ‘crepitate’ ย means ‘to make a crackling sound’? ย Neither did I…’til I saw it on Thesaurus.com as the ‘word of the day’ ๐Ÿ˜€

p.p.s. ย I’m thankful for all of our readers…you make blogging SO much fun! ย Thank you, thank you!

I hope you can get your dryer fixed soon! We have a big family and it was such a pain to haul all the wet clothes to the laundry mat.

Wow! looks like you had a wonderful time with your visitor ๐Ÿ˜€ Very neat. The “outrageous” outtakes made me LOL ๐Ÿ™‚ how did they do that with a straight face??
Cute chicks! how long till they are grown? will they be to butcher or give eggs? Do you have other livestock animals? I think that is all so cool ๐Ÿ™‚

I hope you have a happy and tasty thanksgiving! I will “see ya” friday!! ๐Ÿ˜€ –Nicole

Happy Thanksgiving to you, too, Nicole! The chicks will probably be pretty well full grown by April or May, and they’ll be the ‘egg-giving’ kind instead of the ‘meat-giving’ kind ๐Ÿ˜€ Which is a really good thing because we go through a lot of eggs! We have goats, too, and some cats, a dog, and one silly goose ๐Ÿ˜€

      Have a wonderful day!

Neat! ๐Ÿ˜€ We are interested in “homesteading” ๐Ÿ™‚ , but are very limited as we live on an Air Force Base! This means, of course, that we can’t have any sort of livestock or grow things in the ground. BUT when we retire in about a year, we hope to move into a home with some good land for a garden. ๐Ÿ˜€ I’m excited to see where God moves us!

    Hi, great post!

I was reading your mom’s blog the other day (it is wonderful!). She mentioned that she’d asked you girls a while back to call her “Mommy”, as opposed to any other titles.

Can I ask why (respectfully)? Is Mommy more respectful or more Biblical in some way? I was just wondering. I have two kids of my own.

Thanks Kari! No, ‘Mommy’ isn’t more Biblical, and I don’t remember Mommy ever asking us to call her that…it just kind of ‘happened’ ๐Ÿ˜€ That’s what we grew up calling her when we were little, and then it was what we preferred to call her as we got older ๐Ÿ™‚ When I was little I used to think that when I got older I would call her ‘Mom’, because that is what she called her mom, but now that I’m ‘older’ I can’t imagine calling her anything other than ‘Mommy’ ๐Ÿ˜€ That’s just who she is ๐Ÿ˜€

A funny story…I was very much into ‘Little House on the Prairie’ as a little girl and reread those books multiple times. I thought it would be so neat if we called Mommy, ‘Ma’ ๐Ÿ˜€ I remember suggesting that to Mommy one day (in fun, I wasn’t serious!) but she didn’t seem to like that idea, lol!

Thanks for asking! Hope you have a lovely Thanksgiving day!

Jessica I def think you should keep that dress for yourself ๐Ÿ™‚ I LOVE the color! Such a pretty blue. Sidenote – I also love your family room (?) and all the wrap around windows it has – ours is built similar, but with not as many windows, and it’s my favorite room in the house…makes me feel like I can be outside and in at the same time!

Hope you have a happy Thanksgiving! My faith, family, and friends top the list of what I am thankful for (I figures that’s even more then 10 if you count each individual :)).

Thank you Julianne! Daddy built it on to our house and we love it, too! It’s so light all year round ๐Ÿ™‚

Hehe, yes, I’m still trying to decide on that dress… ๐Ÿ˜€ Our ‘Auntie’ Jen from CT has one that matches, and I think she thinks I should keep it, too ๐Ÿ˜€
