Once upon a time there were seven sisters who wanted to start a blog. So, here we are!!! We are all going to introduce ourselves.
I will start with myself…
I am 15 and the 4th oldest of a family of 11!! so life is quite busy (I wish it would slow down). I play cello and piano and enjoy both alot. A few things I like to do is sew, ( I just got my own sewing machine) knit, and do the 4-H fair.( I’m also looking forward to starting school, except the math) I am not much of a writer so my intro is pretty short, I will now let someone else get on.

Hello! I am 16 (almost 17), the third oldest of 9 kids and at 6 ft. tall I’m the tallest in the family..so far.My brothers might pass me up. My interests are sewing, reading, crocheting, cooking (four nights a week), playing cello, dogs (I groom our Shih tzu), goats, llama (something I want to get), botany and spinning (one of my new interests: )…oh yes, I love chocolate! (How could I forget that?) I’m looking forward to school (which kind of starts tomorrow). I’ll be starting new things such as a herb course (I might do it with one of my sisters), writing my autobiography and a new history book…does that count as a new subject?…not really but it will just have to stay. Okay, speaking of spinning (the sentence before the last I think), I finally got out my drop spindle that I got for my 13th birthday. I was reading a book and found out what I was doing wrong (breaking the wool and getting lumps -which are called ”slubs”- to name a few). So now I am able to keep the yarn at one size instead of 5! Only I can’t keep it spinning fast enough…sigh. I guess I’ll have to read more books.
One of my highlights this year was getting grand champion over all sewing with the dress I made for our 4-H fair. It also went to State Fair! And I got braces! The third week of June I think. They take some getting used to!
A few of my favorite things are: dogs, yellow, flowers (particularly sunflowers, hollyhocks and tulips), collecting teacups, antiques and reading-mostly the type that are called, "How to______", etc. : )
Three days ago Daddy rented a lift that went 60 feet high! He used it to paint the barn, trim the trees and give us a ride. (Well, that wasn’t one of the reasons : ) When he took us up on it, we went about 30 ft. up (as high as the barn). It was SO neat! We could see far away! I tried to get him to take us up even higher but I was the only one who thought higher was a good/fun idea.
Well, my sister is waiting to get on…so I guess I better sign my name and skit! I think we all are using our ‘cowgirl’ names that we use in play.

~Hi! My name is Lyssa Jane and I am the second oldest. I enjoy sewing, cooking, reading, drawing, gardening, having tea parties, cardmaking, history, camping, playing violin and piano (especially with my sisters and mommy), canning, soapmaking, and being outside. Some of my favorite things are: flowers (especially pansies), kitties, the color purple, antiques, books, aprons, teacups and teapots, classical music, hymns, old houses and barns, and herbs.
I graduated last year, and am staying home to keep on learning, and to help my daddy and mommy. I also have eight sewing students. I am looking forward to learning more about herbs and gardening, more history, some painting, embroidery, calligraphy, and a little bit of government this year. Of course I’ll be learning other things too!
We live on 2 1/2 acres about 1/2 mile from town. It is not a very big farm, but we are trying to make the best of it! We have goats, chickens, rabbits, cats, two dogs, and one goose. We have a garden and a small orchard, raise and butcher our own chickens, and get our milk and eggs from our goats and chickens, respectively:) We like raising and growing as much of our food as possible!
It is now time for the next sister have a turn!
~Lyssa Jane~
Hello! I am the oldest of the seven sisters, which I think is a lot of fun . I enjoy sewing, reading, organizing, playing music (especially with my sisters and with Mommy), knitting, camping, antique shopping, writing, tea parties, and I also like soap making just like Lyssa Jane. We made soap for the first time this year at a friend’s house and had a lot of fun! It is just nice to have someone who has done it before, show you, so you don’t get all worried about how it is supposed to look, or what it is supposed to do. Especially when you are working with lye!
Since my sisters have put down their "favorites", I will too.
I like chocolate, ice cream (and any combination of the two!), the color pink, horses, and roses. I have other "favorites", but can’t think of any off the top of my head.
Today we are going to have a cook out in our back yard, and after that, home made vanilla ice cream. We used to make it only once in a great while, but now we make it at least once a week or once every two weeks. In the wintertime we put the ice cream maker in the bath tub .
What are our "cowgirl" names?! That is from when we were very into playing "cowgirls". We made gun belts and used sticks for guns, until that Christmas when Daddy and Mommy gave us cowgirl hats and cap guns! It may seem like an odd thing for a bunch of sisters to play together, but it sure was fun! When I was still in 4-H, I dressed up my goat to match me for the goat costume contest– we were both cowgirls!
Not only are their seven of us girls, but also two adorable little boys, who are the little princes! The first little boy is quieter (this doesn’t mean he can’t be noisy!) and it is cute how he takes care of us girls sometimes. We were on our way to church this Sunday and I had took my sandals off in the van when he told me, "Decca (his name for me)? Did you get your handal ?" (sandals-he can’t say his S’s yet!) I told him I did, then he was content! The second little boy is a lot more vocal! He isn’t talking very much yet, at least not saying actual words, but he sure does jabber a bunch, and acts like he knows exactly what he is talking about! He also loves to "help" you, and will get upset if you don’t let him. He is actually helpful sometimes, and even if it isn’t, it is still cute!
I better sign off for now, it’s going to be time to eat soon.

You all seem very interesting. I really like your blog. Making soap?! That must be very messy from what I've heard. It must be cool to live on a farm. There are quite a few where I live, but I don't live on one. There are mostly horses, cows, and goats here in NC. Do you want to be friends? Well, I've gotta split.
You girls are doing a great job on your blog! Keep it up–it's fun to read. 😉 I am a friend of your mom's (homefire) and I met all of you once a LONG time ago. It would be very fun to see you again now that you're all so grown up. Maybe sometime…
I just learned to make soap, too, and though I haven't tried it by myself yet, I think I'm going to love it. I've also wished that I could hear you all play. Do you have any recordings, perchance?
Narnialover95,
Thank you for your comment! We were very excited to see that someone had posted one : ) I think the comments are half the fun of having a blog.
I liked your idea of roasting a marshmallow over a candle (we all had to check out your blog, too!), and some of us tried it for our s'mores after lunch : )
Homefire,
Thank you for your comment, too! We couldn't believe we had TWO comments already! I am glad you like it : ) No, we don't have any recordings, except for a very warbly tape we made for our grandpa : D
I better go for now… another sister is itching to post!
Jessie Elisabeth
P.S. narnialover95–we would be glad to be your friends : )
