Some of you have wondered who this dog is:
And some of you have wondered what happened to Fred:
We got you all in such suspense about Fred, making you think he was a man….only to give him back to his first owner two months later. You can read about how we got him HERE.
After having him for awhile, we realized that we didn’t want an “inside” dog anymore (everybody got tired of taking him outside), but we didn’t want to just get rid of Fred. Not too long after a family pow-wow about him, his owner asked for him back because he was lonely without him. (He had Fred since he was a puppy and Fred is now 3 years old now!) So away went Fred. We were told he moped for a day or two. Maybe he missed the goats? 🙂
And then a week ago we heard about a family who’s Beagle had six puppies and they were giving them away free! (Free dogs are great…right? 🙂 ) Black Labrador and Beagle mix puppies (interesting…wonder how big they’ll get?!). Another family pow-wow. Do we want a dog? (One that would stay outside of course.) Are we ready and not too busy (ha, ha!) to train it? etc. etc. Another question was what would we name her? (We were sure we wanted a female dog.)
October 17th we brought home this adorable little 6-week old puppy! (Now 7-weeks old.)
She looks like a Black Labrador, but sure howls like a Beagle! 😀
She loves playing outside…isn’t too sure about her sweater…
…sleeps in (looks like) uncomfortable positions…is inside more than she is supposed to be…
…and her name isn’t even officially “Liberty”. It just kinda stuck. Everyone couldn’t agree on one name. We wanted to name her something that had to do with something we saw or did on our trip. Someone suggested “Liberty Bell” and just call her “Bell”. No, that wasn’t long enough. “Ellie”. No, that has nothing to do with our trip. “Lacey”…and supposedly that name has something to do with our trip because we went to Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany GA and they made the movie Fireproof and there is a girl in Fireproof whose name is “Lacey”. No, only Cassia liked that name. (I think she was the one who came up with that definition too 😀 .) “Pooh”, “Clover”, “Wendy”, “Molly”. No, those were all previous dogs names. So right now half of us are calling her “puppy” and the other half of us are calling her “Liberty”. I think one certain person calls her “Liberty Bell” which doesn’t really go. I claimed that those who spent the most time (which would be Bekah and me probably) with her gets to name her because they really know what suits her best. So Liberty it is…er…for now. 🙂
Hope our readers are now satisfied. At least about Liberty, maybe not about Fred. 😀

kate
They have 4 more they want to get rid of 😀 Oops. Maybe I shouldn’t have said that.
your-no-longer-walking-dead-man-friend 😀

~Hannah
Oh- so NOW you tell us that Fred is not a man!
LOL!!! 😀
That looks just like Becki, my childhood dog! She was a similar mix, and even had that white stripe! My parents had gotten her a few months before I was born and she passed on my 12th birthday. Boy, does your new dog bring back some old memories!
What a cutie!
How PRECIOUS! Oh my, those eyes…how do you say no to her? I have a feeling that she’s going to be somewhat spoiled [if she’s not yet].
By the way, Ellie does have something to do with your trip! Ellis Island. 😉 Just change the s to and e and you’re all set!
Enjoy your new puppy!
Blessings,
~Hannah Grace

Hi Susannah…what a precious dog!!!
Here is the (delicious!) pumpkin fudge recipe you requested:
3 cups white sugar
1 cup milk
3 tablespoons light corn syrup
1/2 cup pumpkin puree
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 cup butter
Line an 8 inch square pan with foil and spray the foil with cooking spray. Alternatively, butter the pan. Combine sugar, milk, corn syrup, pumpkin, and salt in large 3 quart saucepan. Mix thoroughly. Bring to boil on high heat, stirring constantly. Reduce heat to medium and continue to boil mixture without stirring until it reaches 238F or until a small amount forms a soft ball in cold water.
Remove from heat and stir in spice, vanilla, and butter. Let cool to 120F. Beat the mixture until it becomes very thick and loses some of its gloss. Quickly pour into a buttered 8″ square pan.
***If it turns out soft and creamy like it is supposed to when you make it, please contact me with some tips!
P.S. Please tell Jessica I am still working on her letter (this is like an eternal project) and I am sorry for being such an awful friend in regards to correspondence!!!!
Oh, no, no, no–you are not an awful friend! 😀 I quite understand! Ask my pen pals how fast I am at getting right back (I’ve been known to take 6 months to a year before) 😀 But I can’t wait to get yours!!!
Hugs!
Jessica
