Our blog needed an update–again. And I keep intending to post about our gardens, but it hasn’t happened yet. So between sewing and filling out 4-H forms I decided to do it.
We have two gardens. One has 30 something tomato plants, green onions, lettuce and spinach.
The other garden (on the other side of the property) is about twice as big as the first garden (if not bigger) and has potatoes, sweet potatoes, onions, green beans, pepper plants, snow peas, broccoli and cauliflower, watermelon, pumpkin, popcorn, corn, strawberries and several more things that I cannot remember right now. Several weeks ago we spent most of a Saturday weeding everything! It was hard work, but so worth it to see nice green lines on brown dirt instead of a big green patch 🙂 It is due for another weeding soon…
Right now our current doings are working on 4-H projects, freezing strawberries and making strawberry jam, making jelly, practicing cello for a orchestra camp that is coming up in two weeks, keeping up with Courageous‘ daily updates (hard work you know!), and making cheese to use up all the milk that is filling up the refrigerator. At least I hope I will be making cheese to use up all that milk. If I start too late in the day then cheese making will go late into the night. Not a good idea.

We have about 185 strawberry plants. This year we are getting about a quart of strawberries a day from just 30-ish plants. So we ought to get quite a lot next year from the remaining plants! 🙂 We have been enjoying strawberry short cake several times! Delicious!

And I thought OUR garden was big. Ours is just a bit bigger than your ‘smaller’ garden. I’ve got my own flower garden too. But the flowers aren’t as pretty as yours. (-:
I have trouble enough keeping my garden weeded and it is much smaller than yours. We have yet to plant our tomato and pepper plants (probably should do that soon). Your flowers are beautiful. 🙂
