You may have wondered why we were kind of quiet for a few days this past week…the following pictures explain why π
You may remember when Scott and Kelley came to our house this past December and February, well this week we got to visit them AND meet Kelley’s family for the first time πΒ You wouldn’t have known that we had never met them…we just walked in and everyone just started talking and laughing and hugging…it was wonderful!Β There were 20 people in that house and pretty much the only time we weren’t talking was when we were sleeping πΒ When Scott and Kelley came, we said we had gained another brother and sister…now we’ve just gained several more!
Scott and Kelley π
This is a small idea of what our whole time was there…we’re all laughing!
The boys…they got along great!Β Isaiah and Joseph especially!
The “Three Musketeers” having a tea party π
And we cannot forget little Andrew, Kelley’s new baby! He had 4 aunts, 2 uncles and 7 other girls all fighting over who wouldΒ hold him next!Β He is such a sweetie!
There is SO much more we could post about staying with our new friends, but we have so little time to post right now!Β It was SO much fun and we all agreed that they needed to come to Indiana sometime very soon! We miss you guys!
In Philadelphia, we really enjoyed getting to see the Liberty Bell and touring Independence Hall π
Bekah was a little disappointed at how small the Bell was, but it was okay…we got over it πΒ If any of you have seen Dave Stotts Drive Thru History you’ll know that we just copied him a little bit!Β We like to get a new Christmas tree ornament every year for our tree that kind of has something to do with what happened that year, so this was perfect!
We all wanted our picture with the Liberty Bell, and several other people were doing the same, so we waited until some people had taken their turns, and then when we all sat in front of the Bell, all the sudden no one else was getting their picture taken…they were taking pictures of us! :OΒ π
We got to see THE chair that George Washington actually sat in…
And the Pennsylvania State Seal…the bird on top is supposed to be a bald eagle, but the artist had never seen one, so this is what he came up with!!!
We also tried our first ever Philly Cheese Steak!Β We loved it! We each got our own hot dogs, and then Daddy bought one cheese steak for us all to try since the price was considerably higher!
Sitting on a wall getting ready to eat our lunch
In Gettysburg we were trying to get our bearings and before we walked into the museum, a lady came over and said, “We love your blog!”Β πΒ We found out that she had accidentally found our blog and had been watching progress on our trip, and we just happened to be at Gettysburg at the same time!!!Β That was so much fun πΒ We’ve never had that happen before πΒ Unfortunately, we didn’t even think to ask her name, but if you’re reading this, we all say hello!!!
Abe was very kind to let us all have our picture taken with him!Β He even let Isaiah sit on his lap π Again, we noticed that strangers were taking our picture π
One of us doesn’t like Abe (not sure why), and he is someone else’s favorite president…can you tell who?!
It was sobering to see all the graves of those Civil War soldiers, so many that were unknown.
One grave said:
GALVIN HAMILTON
1841 – 1914
CO. K 1st, P.R.C.
Wounded at Gettysburg July 2, 1863
It never struck us before that Civil War veterans could have been so close to seeing, or have seen the start of World War 1.
So all in all, we had a wonderfully rich history lesson, and have been having tons of fun!
And now we are off to our next adventure!

Personally Cassia, I don’t like Abe very strongly! π I am a Southerner, even if I do love some Yankee history! π No offense to the rest of you, of course!!!!
Boy, are y’all spoiled with all your historical stops! I’ve never seen a monument in my life! π
Wow! How awesome! I am glad to see your trip is going so well!

Wow, I am just so enjoying each of your posts about this trip. Quite comical that other people were trying to take your picture… lol! And that must have been a neat experience about the lady who “read your blog”…

YOU’ALL were in Gettysburg!!! If I had know when you’re going I would have been there just like the lady was. I’ve been following you blog an trip East here and was going to ask when you were stopping at Gettysburg. Being so close to home.
Thank you for your examples of a stay at home daughters and glorify God it what has been written. Are you stopping by Harpers Ferry, or Washington, D.C.?
We did go through DC real quick…but not on purpose π
Oh! That is too bad we missed getting to meet you! π We drove through a part of D.C., but not on purpose! Just like Manhattan, we girls were happy to be able to say we had been there, though we didn’t actually get out and look around much π It was neat to see the monuments and the Capitol building!
That’s wonderful gals!
I am so happy you are getting to see some of these places – it’s like a homeschooling dream! * or at least, this homeschooler’s dream!!*
Take care and have fun,
God bless,
Ann
There is actually 1 Southerner buried at the Gettysburg National Cemetary. when the “officials” found out he was Southern they decided to let him “rest in peace” instead of moving his grave.
Really?! Cassia will be happy to know that π
Aha! Nasty Yankees. π >)
LOL π
