We girls have been waiting

and waiting

and waiting,

waiting,

waiting,

waiting

for this movie, as some of you know ๐Ÿ˜€ ย It seems that we go through a cycle of waiting for them to announce their next movie (if they’re going to make one…they never assume that is the next step God has for them), then we wait for them to tell us the name

…then we wait for each and every weekly update

…then we wait for the trailer

…then we wait for it to come out in theaters

…then we wait for it to come out on dvd

Then we wait for them to do it all over again ๐Ÿ˜€

Daddy and Mommy went and saw it the night it came out…the rest of us girls saw it the next day (some of us girls had orchestra practice the night it came out).

Did we like it?

Did they do even better than Fireproof?

Was it worth it?

YES!

When Fireproof came out, only Daddy and Mommy saw it in theaters and the rest of us waited for it to come out on dvd. ย But for Courageous, we decided we didn’t want to wait ๐Ÿ˜€

When Daddy and Mommy came home, they were about to burst and really wanted to talk about it ๐Ÿ˜€ ย They were really glad we were going to see it the next day so that we could all talk about it and they wouldn’t have to wait 6 months ๐Ÿ˜€

We went in the afternoon, so there was hardly anyone there, but Cassia saw her piano teacher ๐Ÿ˜€ ย  We waited and waited, and watched ads for every single business in town twice before the movie actually started, it seemed ๐Ÿ˜€

Then, the movie began….

It’ll be hard to say much about it without giving things away, but we will say this…it was FUNNY, ย it had us CRYING (really crying..but then our friend says we are very emotional movie watchers, lol!), and WE LOVED IT! ย Sherwood does an excellent job of mixing in the humor to keep it funny, and yet coming through with a powerful message. ย Even though the message was primarily for fathers, ย when ‘Adam’ says that he didn’t think fatherhood should be taken lightly, ย I was challenged as a sister…should the role of being an older sister be taken lightly?

If you haven’t seen any of the scenes on the website yet, I would say not to until you’ve seen the movie. They didn’t give away the whole movie, but I still felt like I knew too much…not terribly so, but I think for the next movie (if there is a next one…I hope!) I’m not going to watch any of the finished scenes ๐Ÿ™‚

**update**: ย I just realized last night that I didn’t say anything as far as how good it is for younger kids to watch…there are two very intense scenes, one gang scene in the beginning, and another intense scene at the end, but I think they did it very well. ย All of us girl watched it, right down to Charissa, but it is probably up to your family as far as how you think your ‘youngers’ will do ๐Ÿ™‚ ย  ย For us, whenever we watched a ‘scary movie’, we just ran out of the room ’til it was ‘safe’! ย  ๐Ÿ˜€ ย Though both scenes are intense, they’re not gory or overdone. ย I think they really did the gang scene quite well.

Watch for fun little things that they sneak into the movie from previous movies!

One more thing…’The Snake King’ was many of us girls’ favorite part! ย We were ‘rolling on the floor laughing’…okay, not literally, but it was ย HILARIOUS!

So all in all…we loved it, and highly recommend it ๐Ÿ˜€ ย It’s worth the money!

p.s. when you notice a toilet is not flushing properly in the theater restroom, do NOT assume you can fix it like you do the ones at home by jiggling something in the tank. ย Water will squirt out of the back, get your dress wet, and you’ll have to tell the guy at the concessions counter that the ‘first toilet as you walk in’, is having issues. ย Better to tell him it’s having issues before you open the tank! ย lol!

I heard the “Courageous” song by Casting Crowns on the radio today for about the 5th time. ๐Ÿ™‚ It looks like a good movie with a good message. A friend of Hannah D.’s saw it with her husband and she told Hannah that “They were in tears.”

Oh, I noticed that you have read and enjoying the book “Alone Yet Not Alone.” I saw in the latest Vision Forum catalogue that they’ve made it into a movie that should be out by Spring. ๐Ÿ˜€ I’m having so much trouble finding other girls that have read the book and would be excited, and I wanted to share the FB page and trailer for it with anyone who might be interested. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hello dearies! My oh my I have not visited your blog, or any blog for that matter, in so long. I miss hearing about your lives! Kaitlyn is running all over the place and keeping me quite busy!…having lots of fun, that’s for sure. ๐Ÿ™‚ I was not sure where to comment but I have a few questions. I am going to make your bread recipe (the one you gave Rachel Dixon that she posted on her blog quite awhile ago). Here goes:

    1) Where oh where do you buy oat bran??? I have been to 4 stores in town (that is ALL of them! LOL!) and no one has it…just oat bran cereals.

    2) Do you use raw honey or regular liquid kind? (I have raw – is that ok?)

    3) Do you melt the coconut oil first or just throw it in when it is still solid?

Thanks girls! I am thinking this will be a good sandwich bread. I have baked bread before but it is always a little too dense and hearty for sandwiches. I am excited!

    Love from Oklahoma!

Hello Jaime Lynn!!! Kaitlyn must be so big by now ๐Ÿ˜€ I think about you pretty often ๐Ÿ˜‰

      For your questions…
      1. we’ve bought our oat bran at the health food store, or through a health food coop. We’ve also left the bran out, so if you can’t find any, that’s another option ๐Ÿ™‚
      2. We use the regular liquid kind…is raw really stiff? You could probably heat it up? I’m not sure we’ve used raw before, so I don’t know how it ‘acts’ ๐Ÿ™‚
      3. Yes, probably melting the oil would be best…we always used olive oil, so having it in a liquid state is probably best ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m not sure if Rachel did this or not, but you can also do half white flour and half whole wheat to make it even lighter…but then you may not want the white! Here’s another recipe that is melt-in-your-mouth-light-and-fluffy…even better than the recipe we gave Rachel ๐Ÿ˜€ http://homeschoolblogger.com/sevensisters/713431/ (the recipe calls for wheat gluten, which you can get in the baking aisle at Walmart I’m pretty sure)

Hope those help! Love and lots of hugs!!!

*Waving!* Yes Kaitlyn is SO big. I will have to send you a picture. She is growing up so fast. Raw honey is completely solid so I won’t use it and will just get some plain liquid kind…probably will work better. I would rather use olive oil anyway so I am glad you said that! Rachel must have changed the recipe on her blog to coconut oil then…I know the Dixon’s prefer it. I think I will try the one that you gave the link for above! Thanks! What is the deal with the vitamin C powder? LOL! Seems a bit strange…but if it makes great sandwich bread then vitamin C powder it shall be! HA HA. I don’t have a mixer…do you think it would work by hand? Or will it not be light and fluffy that way? Thank you for your help! Love and hugs back at you!!!!

LOL! I think we’ve skipped the vitamin C powder before without any change ๐Ÿ˜€ So you can go either way…

For the flour, you start with 5 cups in the first part, then add 7 to 10 more cups ๐Ÿ™‚ And I think you could do it by hand…I forget if we’ve done *this* recipe by hand, but I don’t see why not ๐Ÿ˜€

      Hope that helps!!!

      Hugs again!
