About a week ago I wanted to make a little baby sundress/jumper for a friend’s baby shower. I had almost given up when I stumbled across this pattern from Made by Rae.
It was so easy, and the pattern was free (which I love!). I changed it up a little and decided to do a 8-panel skirt. My friend and I both happen to love pink and lacy things, so it wasn’t hard to find some scraps and remnants to put together for this little dress 😀
In Rae’s tutorial, she has you just do two pieces for the skirt (front and back). I wanted to make a panel skirt, so I just cut 8 pieces (4 for the back, 4 for the front) that were 5″ by 11″ and sewed them together using a 1/2″ seam allowance. If you like this look, it’s a good way to utilize those smaller pieces of material laying around (which my sisters and I have a lot of.)
Like I said before, it was very easy to make! No buttons, no zippers, just lots of fun 😉
I added a little bit of crocheted lace from Hobby Lobby to the hem.
If I make another one, I think I may add some decorative stitching along each of the seams…wouldn’t that be cute?!
Are you all inspired to make one now?! You can go {here} and get the free pattern. She has a newborn size, a 1-3 month size, and even a toddler size. I wanted mine to be more like a 3-6 month, so I just added 1/2 inch to the sides of both the front and back bodice.
She also has a very reasonable seller’s program ($10 for the pattern) if you want to make more and sell them 🙂
Did you make one? Share the link in the comment section…we’d love to see it! 😀
