Waiting for the parade to start

At the  beginning of last month, our town had it’s annual festival.  For a whole weekend Main Street gets closed off and ice cream stands, small rides, and carnival-toys-you-think-you-have-to-have  fill up the area from the fire station all the way down to the Methodist church.  Everybody (except us) have garage sales that weekend, too 😀   We always like going to the parade…it’s our favorite part 😀

The sirens are ear-piercing loud, and the fire engine’s horn vibrates through you’re whole body…we all like the emergency vehicles because not only are they just *neat*, but the ambulance (Bekah fell out of the barn loft when she was five years old), as well as the fire trucks (our barn caught fire 3 years ago) have both been to our house and we are *very* grateful for them 😀

{fun old cars}

Three big shiny semis came through the parade, so Cassia took this picture of our reflection…we look rather short and squatty, don’t you think?!

A contestant for “Mr. Rooster”…he was so cute!  His little sister sat in the airplane and he stood there saluting the whole way through 😀  We girls were happy to find out that he won 1st place since he was our favorite “Mr. Rooster” 😀

After the parade we got to talk to some friends and neighbors…

Cassia, holding our former babysitter’s (whose name is also Cassia!) little girl 😀  Our babysitters’ family had 12 kids, 6 of whom were girls and each one babysat us until they got married, or until we were old enough to look after ourselves 😀  We have some fun (and crazy) stories with those babysitters!   Like the times we crawled through all the ‘tunnels’ in their hay barn, not having a clue where the tunnels led to, hardly being able to see where we were going,  getting ourselves filthy dirty and having a wonderful time!

Then the helicopter…the highlight of the day!  We heard that they were having helicopter rides so we drove by to see how much it would cost.  It was…alot.  But some of us decided it would be worth it and decided to go for it anyhow.  It was cheaper if you went by twos, which was a plus 😀

Cassia and I posed in front of the helicopter after our ride

I’ve always thought that lift-off must be exhilarating, and I was not disappointed 😀   The scenery was beautiful!   It was so hard to take everything in within the space of just a few minutes!

{no, I’m not having fun, why?!}

{Cassia’s not enjoying herself very much either 😉 }

{more lovely scenery}

Daddy and Susannah went on a ride after Cassia and I…they enjoyed it as much as we did.  We kept saying to each other for days after that, “That was SO much fun!”

The best place of all, home sweet home!

We were excited to get to fly over our house!  From the air, everything looks so neat and straight.  When Daddy and Susannah flew over, we all ran out of the house and waved 😀   Oh what fun!

We’ve decided we want a helicopter for Christmas (haha!)

      Hehe! Yes, someday 😀 We thought about doing one when we reached our 50th Treasures post, then we thought about doing one when we reached 100,000 visits, but both times something crazy was going on in our lives 😀 We’ll find some good reason to have a giveaway one of these days 😀

        Okay!! Why don’t you do one for the headcoverings you girls wear? You could giveaway 2, which would make it more fun! Like, there would be a winner and then a follow-up or 2nd place winner! How about that? I renowned for my “great” ideas, lol!! 😉

          Nope…no parachute. But we were strapped in. That would’ve been scary if we weren’t 😀
