One of our commenters, Anna,ย  recently asked how to play the game we played while at our friend’s house in Connecticut ๐Ÿ™‚ ย  So I figured a diagram might help and would be heaps easier than trying to explain it in text only ๐Ÿ˜€

Divide your playing area:

You’ll need a long piece of rope to divide your playing area (which hopefully is quite large!)ย  into two equal parts (see the pink line down the middle of the diagram).ย  It might be helpful to have two more pieces of rope to mark off the ‘safe zones’.ย ย  I put the ‘safe zone’ blue line on here too far away really…the safe zone starting point is directly in front of the cones.

(Anna and Joe running home after being freed from jail…me trying to guard the cones with Noah, and Allison, Laura and Isaiah trying to steal them from us :D)

Jail:

Each team decides where their ‘jail’ is.ย  Jail shouldn’t be behind the safe zone.ย  Whenever the opposing team tags you when you’re in their territory (and not in the safe zone), you have to go to jail.ย  Someone daring from your team can run through enemy territory and tag you to set you free.ย  You can hold hands to create a chain so that you are closer to the dividing line, making it easier for your teammates to get you out of jail ๐Ÿ˜€ย  You can decide if the whole chain of prisoners is set free if the one on the end is tagged by a teammate, OR if the teammate has to tag each prisoner to set them free ๐Ÿ™‚ย ย  The prisoners get a ‘free pass’ and can’t be re-tagged until after they return to their own territory.ย  The freed prisoners also cannot run for a bottle/cone until they’ve returned to their own territory first.

Object of the Game:

To collect all twenty cones or water bottles, or kittens (not recommended as they don’t like to be whisked around and won’t stay put ๐Ÿ˜€ ) , or whatever you use for your ‘cones’.ย  You’ll want one or two people to guard your own cones, then you’ll need people to run over into the opposing team’s territory to steal their cones.

If you make it behind the safe zone, the other team cannot tag you until you’ve picked up bottle.ย  You also cannot be tagged by the opposing team in your own territory (obviously).

Other Stuffs…

Hopefully you’re really good friends with all the game players, because you’ll probably end up hollering at the opposing team, squealing, screaming (hopefully not at each other…just screaming out of excitement :D) and hollering at your own teammates.ย  At least that’s what we did…and it was a blast!

Have fun!ย  If there is anything that is unclear, comment and let me know because I may have overlooked something ๐Ÿ˜€
