On the way home from church today, as we sat in various places in the van, one of the girls mentioned that we needed to have a ‘meeting’ of who was sitting where on our way to and from Florida.
Anna turned around (in the spot marked ‘I’…see first picture) and announced…
“I am calling this meeting to order!”
Jessica: “I have a suggestion”
“What is that?”
“No booster seats in the front seat.”
Then several people chimed in, ‘Why not?’, ‘Okay’, and Susannah said, “I second the motion!”
Jessica: “All in favor, say aye!”
(Six ayes)
Jessica: “All in favor, say nay!”
Charissa: “Boo!” (but she didn’t mean it, so we didn’t count her ‘boo’)
Susannah: “Okay, starting from the oldest, where do you want to sit?”
Jessica: “If we were Elsie Dinsmore’s children, we would all pick different places and everything would be nice and neat.”
(everyone gave their various answers, and SURPRISINGLY everyone wanted a different spot…this rarely happens π )
Jessica: “We must be Elsie Dinsmore’s children!”
Susannah: “Okay, now for on the way home, starting from the youngest…where do you want to sit?”
Jessica: “If everybody really likes their spot, we can just keep our spots.” Then she crossed her fingers and Leah laughed and poked her for being so ridiculous to cross her fingers…like that would help any π
Unfortunately, this was not the case, and we had a couple of ‘stalemates’, where two people wanted the same spot.Β We were Elsie Dinsmore’s children no more.
Β Leah and Jessica were getting hot and stuffy in the back of the van, so Leah asked someone to open the window.
Bekah: “But the meeting isn’t over yet and we can’t hear with it open!”
Leah and Jessica: “But we can’t breathe!”
So the window got opened.
Β Nobody made any suggestions for awhile, then Anna (who had been writing down who was sitting where) handed the notebook to Jessica.Β Jessica didn’t want to be the person in charge of the meeting, so Anna asked who wanted to be the leader of the meeting.Β Susannah took the notebook and became the leader (and the window was shut). After a while, somehow (not sure how) we reached an agreement of who would sit where on the way home.
Then Susannah declared the meeting closed, apologizing that there were no refreshments,Β and we opened the window again.
Below is the diagram of the van seats…the uppercase letters are for the people sitting on the way to Florida, the lowercase are for where the people are sitting on the way home from Florida (that way, if you happen to pass us on our way down, you will know where we are all sitting and can wave accordingly).
Β Cassia had some business to take care of as well…she shut the window (to the dismay of Jessica and Leah) and said, “I am calling Meeting Two to order! Roll call!”
But nobody wanted to do roll call, and it was obvious we were all there.
Cassia: “What should we bring for snacks?”
‘Cookies!’, ‘Granola Bars!’, ‘Fruit!’, ‘Rice Crispy Treats!’.
Cassia: “No rice crispy treats!Β They’re not healthy!”
Jessica: “But Cassia, neither are chocolate chip cookies…forget about being healthy!”
Leah: “And we always have rice crispy treats on long trips.”
Cassia: “But we have to buy stuff for it.”
Jessica: “That’s okay.”
Cassia: “Okay…I’ll put it down with a question mark…we have to make sure it’s okay with Mommy.”
After more suggestions, Cassia wrote down some more things on her paper, and asked Mommy about the rice crispy treats.Β Then she announced, “Mommy said we can do rice crispy treats!”Β Β Which was quickly followed by cheers and hollering.Β π
Leah: “Can somebody open the window?”
So what all must we do before Florida?Β And why are we going there?!
Mommy is going for more T-Tapp certification (the exercise program she is a trainer with), and we are going…to have fun π
We are so excited and can’t wait…we love Florida, and we love family vacations there π
So far we have gotten only a little done. Usually we pack last minute when we suddenly realize that we gotta pack fast! That will be tomorrow.Β Then Tuesday morning we (plan to) leave bright and early. Or maybe that should be ‘dark and early’, because it’s so early π
p.s. lest you think we always have organized meetings and are almost Elsie Dinsmore’s children…we do not and are not.Β Not by any stretch of the imagination.Β We were just in an organized meeting sort of mood today π
