Do I have to grow up? As I pack up all my ribbons from the fair, put my projects that were brought home away, and keep those little things that I want to scrapbook later on in a safe place, I can’t help but be a little sad. I’ve had a great 10th year and last year in 4-H, I’m not complaining! I’m just sad because as I pack the stuff away, it’s yet another reminder that it’s time to move on in life. Another reminder that this is my last year, and I can’t go back and do it anymore.
As much blood, sweat, and tears, late nights, stress, and hard work 4-H has taken, it was worth it! I look back and see that over 10 years, I’ve not just won ribbons, had fun, and learned some new skills, but it has taught me responsibility and character too, and those are the important things that I will carry on with me to other areas in my life. So even though I’ve ‘hated’ 4-H at times, I am really grateful for it too! 🙂
And it’s not that I’m overly sad to leave 4-H, but like I said, all these “lasts” that are happening, are just reminders that I’m not a little kid anymore, it’s time to move on, grow up, and accept more and greater responsibility. Which, is really exciting! I’m looking forward to what God has for me. 🙂 I love walking through life with Him. 🙂 But it’s scary too!
You just realize that your not the innocent, no worries kid that you used to be. Growing up is hard, and at times I’d prefer to forget the whole thing! But, the world doesn’t need one more person who didn’t grow up! Plus, the right thing is to grow up. Doesn’t matter how I feel, but what is right.
I will move on “in the strength of the Lord.” Ps. 71:16…
…And will fear not, because He is with me. Numbers 14:9
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Jeremiah 29:11
It’s okay to be sad and cry like I’ve already done, and will, I just can’t stay there.
“The Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces.”
I’m so grateful for a loving Savior who loves you and me more than we could possibly imagine!
“Be strong and very courageous!” Joshua 1:7

Love you Auntie Jen! Hugs right back. 🙂 -Cassia
Oh Cassie… growing up is a good thing, rest assured. 🙂 Yes, it has its hard times, but, more than anything, it is what we make it to be as we keep our hearts focused on the Lord. If we determine that we will enjoy our adulthood, then we’ve already taken the first step to being happy and content! Childhood is incredible, but so is being a “grown up”.
Lots of love!
Rachel
Aww thanks, Rachel! I needed that! 🙂

Congratulations Cassia on completing 4 H! Things like that take a lot of perseverance and diligence, Great Job!
You have no idea (actually you probably do) what it does to actually read that verse from Jeremiah in K J V!!!!!!! It’s such a well known verse, but it’s always misquoted. 🙁 Thank u for the refreshing display of Truth!!!
I love this post…came straight from the heart. I understand what you are feeling about growing up. There are such mixed emotions. I’ve felt them in the past too and still do when I look back to childhood things. You are so right about how good our God is and that we always have hope and a future in Him. There is so much joy to be felt at every stage of life and it’s so exciting to see His plan for us unfold before our eyes. God bless you on your journey. <3
Facing age 18 myself pretty soon, I get shots of fear because to the world, 18 is “adult”. And I do NOT feel ready to be an adult. It’s like being in a landslide and you can’t stop……glad to know I’m not completely alone. 😉 Your words are a great encouragement!
I understand so much what that feeling’s like! But I’m finding out more and more it’s fun to be growing up too!
Congratulations on finishing! : ) Don’t you do a grade 11 and 12 at all??
I love that verse in Jeremiah! 🙂 Cute photos!
