Yesterday Susannah and Cassia announced that breakfast was at 7:30 this morning, and to make sure we were there because they had a surprise for us.
So this morning we were all sitting around the table eating our delicious Christmas breakfast, when Susannah disappears upstairs, and then peeked around the corner and said, “Okay, all of you close your eyes and sing!” Β So we all closed our eyes and sang ‘Hark the Herald Angels Sing’, opened our eyes, and lo and behold there were all of these matching jumpers hanging in the window!
Susannah was removing the chicken from the picture…sorry chicken…you don’t have a matching jumper!
Those two girls were *very* sneaky and sewed all 8 jumpers in one day! Β Then they had them washed, dried, and ironed for us by this morning π Β We’ve had this fabric for two or three years and just haven’t gotten the outfits done. Β When Susannah and Cassia suggested we get them done for this year, we told them they were crazy….we had way too much other Christmas sewing to do! Β So those crazy girls sewed them all up for us π
Thank you girls! Β It was a *lovely* surprise!

Those jumpers are such a beautiful color!
It only took two girls one day to make eight jumpers?! Whoa!!! I might be able to make one pot holder in one day. π You put me to shame.
I know! Those two are amazing! π
Jessica
OH MY GOOD—————————–!!!!!!!!!!!!! π― π― How did you two manage to do that?!?!?!!!!!!!! I can’t even get 2 aprons done in one day!! Not because I can’t, but because I would get sick of it!!! π
WOW !!!!!! You all are amazing !!!!! I guess the seams were crooked, since they sewed that fast π JK π I sewed a whole jumper Friday….it took me all day. But doing 4 jumpers in ONE DAY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Amazing.
Merry Christmas and Happy New year !!!!!!! π
I ♥ you all !!!!
Rachel
I can’t even make ONE jumper in one day!! LOL! I can’t even make a pot holder in a day….aha! Now that certainly IS a surprise π Merry Christmas!
How wonderful!!! I love them! What a sweet thing for the two gals to do!!!
It’s amazing what you can do when you truly want to surprise someone you love. Your girls sound incredible.
Merry Christmas!
Very Nice!! π
They look lovely!!! I want to know WHERE they made them. And did they cut them all out the night before and WHEN DO YOU GIRLS SLEEP?????? LOL
Love you all!
We started cutting them out the night before, but did the rest the day we made them…in our room π
Sleep? What is that? π
I am just learning to sew and would love to be able to make clothes but 8 jumpers in one day? So fast!!
Learning to sew clothes is going to be one of my Resolutions for 2012.
You all look so sweet together – that loving family feel really comes across in the photographs!
Hi, love your blog.
What kind of farm do you guys have? Dairy? Or do you raise food?
Thanks and happy holidays!
Thanks Janie π We have a small mini farm, but we raise dairy goats and have a garden for ourselves. It isn’t really a business, but we enjoy it and it provides some fresh food for our family π
Hope you have a happy new year π
The jumpers are lovely! I like most to see the sweet smiles on all the faces in the picture. It just makes me happy. Thanks for the post.
PS- how much fabric do you buy to make seven dresses?? I’m guessing over 20 yards?? π
I think we bought about 24ish yards of this material. Ideally we would get something like 32 yards because we like fuller jumpers now, (you know, swishy, swirly skirts?! :D) but we had to make do with what we had bought a couple of years ago π

How tall are the tallest seven sisters? I always want to ask because I am 5’3 and feel like I would be a shorty around you guys. π
Hehe! Good question π Susannah is the tallest at 6′ 1 π The shortest of us (who are done growing) is Leah at 5′ 6…I think the younger three girls are all going to pass her up…I know Anna has already π

I’m just curious. I enjoy reading your blog. I am a conservative Christian and believe in modesty (no low cut tops, short or tight skirts, and don’t like sleeveless items without a sweater or jacket over it) But why jumpers? Why not just modest tops and skirts? I was curious because I have seen others that seem to equate the modesty with jumpers and just did not know it there was a particular reasoning or just a personal preference. Jumpers are quite cute.
Mostly because of our personal preference…we do wear dresses occasionally, too, (I have one cut out and ready to sew right now π ) but jumpers are just so versatile and comfy π We don’t like skirts so much because we don’t like the feel of something around our waist, lol! We’ve laughed over this with one of our friends who loves skirts and says it would feel weird not to have something around her waist π

Those are BEAUTIFUL! I love the color so much! It’s so light and airy and feminine!
And I’m quite amazed at the speed. In our house, which is so small, you can’t make a card without someone seeing, let alone make eight jumpers. π (that’s a tad exaggerate, though, I have made cards without being seen! π )
