*Raised eyebrows,* “Heh, Heh, Heh!”… You’re probably thinking!
“Seven Sisters, Christmas Memories, Santa Claus!???”
“What!?”
Okay, so I know this sounds weird, but!, this is a fond Christmas memory of mine!
No, I do not believe in Santa Claus,
And No, I don’t love Santa Claus!
Let me explain and maybe you’ll understand…

Every year on the week of Christmas, our quaint little town’s fire station goes out and gives the whole town candy!
The different firemen dress up as Santa and stops by anybody’s house who puts their lights on.
When I was younger, I remember this being a big thing to me! It was terrible if he would stop by while you were taking your bath! How terrible to miss it!
So we would hurry to take our bath!
And the candy, oh yum! How delicious! After he leaves we all run to get pens and write our name on our bag of candy! (We all got our own!)
The anticipation as we would see the firetruck lights across town, knowing that it wouldn’t be long before he came knocking on our door.
Then eating your dinner excitedly knowing he could be here any minute!
The many different variations of “ho, ho, ho’s… from the different firemen (Santas) who would stop by each year…
The discussions afterwards of if he was a good Santa or not, some had obviously fake beards, others looked more convincing, he was jolly just like all the Santa pictures show, he was too skinny, he was into his “Ho, Ho, Ho…Merry Christmas, he seemed as if he really meant it, or he was just saying the words.
My! The memory of all this brings a smile to my face!
One year…He MISSED us! It was sad, but much to our joy…he came the next year!
Now, the candy doesn’t mean anything to me like it used to…
But, many years later, at 18 years of age, I still consider it catastrophic to miss him coming!
It’s tradition! Many memories are built upon him coming and giving us candy!
This week, I look forward to having that big red firetruck pull into our driveway, and Santa coming in saying “Ho, Ho, Ho, Merry Christmas!”
