…for gift-giving, and something we girls have enjoyed doing for the past four years is to pack a shoebox for Operation Christmas Child.

It is kind of fun and exciting to buy presents for a child in another country you don’t even know.  We went ahead and packed shoeboxes ourselves, but we were excited to see that you can ‘pack a shoebox’ online :here:.  You even get to choose what you want to go into the box 😀

What is one of your favorite places to give to at Christmastime?!

Our youth group did that this year as our Christmas project.

Last year my brother and I got to go to the plant in North Carolina where they ship out the boxes. It was so neat to be able to do a little more to get the boxes off =)

    Prayers,
    Esther

I actually love operation Christmas child also. I like to take my nieces and nephews and have them go shopping for a kid their own age. It really helps them to prioritize and be grateful when they realize other kids don’t just want toys or candy, but socks, and toothbrush, etc. I place a picture of the child holding the gift box they packed and decorated and include it in the box with a note. One year, one of the kids wrote back, very neat. Last year when I did not have time I did the online shoe box as well. Thank you for drawing attention to such an important opportunity to bless children.

I love Operation Christmas child. I like having my nieces and nephews select an age group and gender to match their own and go shopping to fill the box. It really gives them perspective to see that other kids want not just toys and candy but socks and toothbrushes, combs, etc. I have each kid decorate their own box and place a picture of them holding the box inside with a note. One year one of the kids wrote back to my nephew. How neat. Last year I was too busy and I did do the online box. Thanks for bringing attention to such a special opportunity to bless children.
