Wednesday: On The Radio

 

 

This morning Cassia and I walked to the other side of the fairgrounds to look at projects. But the building was not yet unlocked. So we decided to make good use of our long walk and take a look at other stuff at that end of the fairgrounds that we haven’t seen yet such as the blacksmithing shop, American Heritage exhibits, Old Days Old Ways, etc.   On our way down there we passed a local Oldies radio station bus that was playing 80’s music, I guess. I’m not really positive about that.

As we were walking past this bus of some sorts, that was playing music for all to hear, we were telling each other (again) how much we did not like the Oldies radio station.

We all have this strong dislike for the Oldies music. Something we are picky about 🙂

And then the guy in there opened the window and shouted toward us,

 

 

“Hey girls! Did you make your dresses?”   We were matching in our 4th of July jumpers today and this is not an unusual question especially when we all match. 🙂

We told him we did and then he asked if we were in 4-H and if we wanted to do an interview on the Oldies radio.

Um…..

No. We did not. But we kept our smiles on and Cassia said,

“Sure!”

Me thinking, “Cassia! No we don’t. I don’t want to talk on a radio…again.”  (Last year we were on another radio station and the interview was terrible and awkward! But this turned out to be just fine…much better than last year!)

So he showed us the door and we went in…

 

He then showed us where to sit/stand and asked who wanted to go first and Cassia said she would.

Me thinking, “I hope he just talks to her and I can just stand here.”

And then he (Brian) starts,

“Hello everybody, I was in here for just a moment and I saw these two lovely ladies walking by and I asked them about their dresses that they made and we are going to do an interview now.”

He then asks Cassia,

“So you’re in 4-H…”

C: “Yes…”

B: “…what projects did you take?”

C: “Foods, scrapbooking, sewing, needlecraft, llama, goats and chickens.”

B: “Wow! So you’re one busy woman!”

“Are you competing in the fair with these dresses?”

C: “No, not with these, but I do have a sewing project.”

B: “So for a guy who has no clue about sewing dresses, how long does it take for you to make one of those dresses?”

C: “About two to three hours if we stay on top of it.”

B: “WOW! I would think that it would take a week to make one and you have the lace and everything on it!” He then went on to kind of describe Cassia’s outfit on the radio. Strange. 😀

“Okay, I’m going to give her a pen for talking on here so here you go and whoops, don’t let that pen get away!” A pen was rolling off the counter 🙂

“So lets talk to your friend now…Hello, what’s your name?” 

 

S: “Hello, I’m Susannah [insert last name here].”

B: “Where are you from?”

S: “[insert town name here].”

B: “Oh, we know where that is, we were there for the town’s festival…were you there?”

S: “Yes.”

B: “So did you make your dress too?”

S: “Yes, I did…”

B: “Do you make a lot of your clothes?”

S: “Yes, we make all of our clothes.”

{he probably said his favorite expression “wow” again…we can’t remember 🙂 }

B: “Are you in 4-H too?”

S: “No, not anymore. I was a ten year member and graduated last year.”

B: “Wow, so you did all ten years! So I have to ask you, what are the four H’s?”

S: {smiles and thinks for a few seconds} “Head, heart, health and…” thinks harder, “hands.”

B: “AH! I can never remember the last two…all I can remember are head and heart.”

“So I’ll give her a pen too for also talking on here and I’ll take a picture of them for the website and now we will have some more of the 80’s music. Thank you girls!”

 

He then took a picture of us and then showed us pictures of his five girls, three of whom are triplets! We talked for a bit and then Cassia and I then went on to where we were headed earlier, with the still disliked Oldies music playing behind us.

And we both now have a new pen. That’s a plus.  😀
