We have been bad bloggers, we know…’tis terrible, really! With 4H, we’ve been spending minimal time on the blog (though we do check it for comments every day and are always excited to see new ones even though we haven’t posted anything new for awhile!).
Independence Day was nice and laid back…we stayed home with the exception of some of us girls going to help Daddy load firewood in the morning, and had LOTS of good food! We went through 6 dozen eggs in two days with all of our ‘holiday food’, but like I told Susannah, it’s a holiday so we can ‘live large’, right?! 😀
Our uncle and aunt brought over an old dump truck for Daddy…I love it! We girls love it because it looks old and neat and very ‘farmish’. Daddy likes it because he’s going to make a dump trailer out of it 😀 The boys like it because boys like trucks! It has become the newest and probably one of the more popular things to take pictures of right now. I got to take this picture one morning when I was going out to the garden for some green onions for breakfast. I love the way it looks with the mist and the sun!
Noah, enjoying Daddy’s truck…it almost looks like he really is going down a farm lane somewhere.
The girls are not about to be left out of this game! Looks like Bekah is enjoying her turn in the driver’s seat!
Daddy calls this a “Norman Rockwell” picture 😀
Anna, Charissa, Noah, Bekah and Isaiah, going for a ‘ride’ 😀
These pictures that the girls took of the reflection on the mirrors are pretty neat.
Isaiah’s turn (-:
“Hey guys! Are you still back there?!”
Here’s a short video of the girls and Isaiah playing in the truck. In this video, Bekah and Isaiah, the ‘cows’, hop out of the truck and run away. Anna, the farmer, has to go find them 🙂 In the second half, the runaway cows come back 😀

Lest we *completely* bore you with truck pictures 😉 here’s a cute one of the boys in their lifejackets by the pool. Isaiah is very cute with his floppy inner tube 😀
Bekah and Anna, ‘hanging out’ and having a conversation of some kind.
Me and one of my best friends 😀
Daddy grilling our yummy brauts 🙂
And of course, we have to show you our yummyful 4th of July food we got to have 😀 For breakfast we had some GAPS legal pancakes with eggs ( will post a recipe for the pancakes another day), lunch was quiche, then we had some yummy Chocolate Avocado pudding for an afternoon snack, and what you see below for supper 🙂 We were thrilled to have brauts from a local farmer that we could have. The were SO good! Much, much better than storebought ones 😀 Added to the brauts (with GAPS legal ‘buns’…er…tortillas?) was watermelon (what is the 4th of July without it?!), our favorite avocado salad, and grilled beets 😀
For dessert, (later in the evening, because we were all stuffed from the above meal!) we had GAPS legal brownies, and coconut ice cream with half a banana in the bottom of the bowl, and whipped cream to top it off.
After dessert, dishes and goats were taken care of, we loaded up into the big van over to a nearby town that has some of the best fireworks 🙂 We got there about an hour early, so we just sat and relaxed.
Aren’t they cute?!
The girls got some pretty neat pictures of the fireworks…
…we had a ‘front row seat’ and could actually see the firemen’s ‘flares’ or whatever they were using to set the fireworks off. That is what the little red spots on the ground are 🙂
Oh, say can you see by the dawn’s early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
{this is a pretty picture of our new flag pole – and therefore also a popular photography subject! – you can even see the stars in the sky!}
{Home Sweet Home}
I am so thankful for our nation, our little town, and even more for my family and the most perfect spot in the whole wide world, our home 😉
Happy Independence Day!!!
Oh! thus be it ever, when free men shall stand
Between their loved home and the war’s desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heaven rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made, and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto, “In God is our trust.”
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O’re the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Amazing!!! 😀 I loved everything!! We didn’t have ANY fireworks nearby this year!!!!! 🙁 👿 I only hear a couple of blasts, but I couldn’t see any!! That made me so mad!! 😉 Anyway, all the pictures were beautiful! 😀
That is sad 🙁 The night before the 4th, we could hear and/or see fireworks from our garden in four different places 😀 Not quite as good as going to see them, though!
