Played two pieces in my piano teachers recital.Β It went really well, and it was extra special because our friends from CT were there! π
Afterwards, I asked Β my friend from CT to take some pictures,Β so here are some of the shots she took, and the videos at the end of the post are the songs I played. π

Cassia, you did such a good job. Both songs are so nice. Did you enjoy playing?
I loved listening to you play when you were in CT. Have a blessed day.
~HW~
Hi Hannah! π
I was nervous, but I did enjoy it, at least alittle bit. I wish I didn’t get so nervous playing infront of people! π
I enjoyed listening to your playing too! Maple leaf rag was really neat! π
~Cassia π
You did NOT seem nervous to me!! You did it with perfect grace, in my opinion!
~The Sweet Spinster (LOL!! π )
LOL! And thank you! π
Cassia
You’re welcome, m’dear!! π
same here π
Cassia,
I get nervous too. I don’t know why because I do it for Bright Lights all the time and it’s something I enjoy. Although, I tend to enjoy it more after I’m done. haha.
Again, you sounded great, and I’m glad you enjoyed listening to the Maple Leaf Rag. It was fun sharing it with all of you. It’s funny how I can get so frustrated with learning a song, but then enjoy playing it so much. π
Have a blessed day.
~Hannah~
Beautiful!! You are great at playing the piano at only 17, Cassia! π I play Chopin’s Nocturne on my piano, too!! π Although it’s a shorter version. The second one is amazing!!! How did you learn to play like that? π
I played a shortend version too! π I didn’t have enough time to learn and polish the whole piece, so my teacher shortened it for me. π
How did I learn to play like that? Well, practice, and my wonderful teacher! π And it helps that I really like the piano! π It makes practicing better, although, there are some times I don’t want to practice! π
Thank you for your nice comment! π
~Cassia π
Wow! You DON’T want to practice sometimes? π It SURE doesn’t seem like it! I LOVE practicing piano so much, my mom is soooooooo tired of hearing it!!! π π π
LOL!
I’ve had to limit myself sometimes, (well, lately) because sometimes I could practice for 2 hr.! But I don’t really have the time to do that, and do my other stuff I’m need toget done! π
Yep. I know what you mean! π But, sometimes, I just DON’T do those other things, and just practice my violin, piano, and guitar all day!!! π π I’ve learned to play just by ear, because I can’t really and hate reading music! π
I play by ear too! So I’m not very strong in reading music, or sight reading. But, I hope to get better at that! π
~Cassia
I’ll have to save this for later — our speakers aren’t plugged in! Oh well. :-p
WOW Cassia!! You play so nice! Can you teach me? π (I wish π ) I love The last video, a mighty fortress is our God.
Btw this post sparked my memory. Can you please tell me where to find the sheet music for the song you played at our house? I think it went like his… To know your will, to hear your voice, to follow where you guide me… etc π
Thanks so much for this lovely musical post
I’m sorry, you had asked me about the sheet music in a letter, and I have not replied. π π
The song is called “I will live for you” and the music is in a songbook from bright lights. Here is the link:

Thanks for your nice comment!
~Cassia π
thanks so much!!
I also love the dress you had on π I think you wore it at our house
Beautiful job Cassia! I especially enjoyed “A Mighty Fortress is Our God.” I’ve grown up playing the piano and violin and I have to admit that one of my least favorite parts was playing for recitals!! I would much rather perform with a group then on my own!
Thanks for sharing!
Yeah, I agree! Playing with someone else is much better than by your self! π If you mess up, it’s not as noticeable. π
Thank you for your nice comment! π
~Cassia π
EXACTLY!! You sure know how to express what I mean better than me!!! π Lol!!
I know exactly what Julianne means! I had the privilege to meet and then afterwards play with a musical family that I had a cd of that a friend gave to me. I wasn’t as nervous with them, as when I’m doing it all by my lonesome little self! π
I love the rendition of A Mighty Fortress Is Our God! That is one of my very favorite hymns……and your version makes me wonder why the whole crowd didn’t jump to their feet singing. Fantastic job!
And I agree with Julianne………it’s easier performing with someone else! Personally, my favorite part of recitals is when it’s over. π
Hahahahaha! LOL!! π
Thanks for posting the pictures and videos Cassia! I enjoyed them, especially “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God”. It was beautiful, and made my day a little brighter!
How long have you been playing piano?
-Karen
Hi Karen, π
I’m glad “A Mighty Fortress” was a blessing to you!
I had a few lessons from Mommy when I was younger, but when I “really” started playing, (meaning, having a teacher and practicing regularly π ), was in September 2008.
Thank you for commenting!
~Cassia π
Phew! I’m glad I’m not alone in my feelings π
Cassia, That is beautiful. You are an amazing pianist! Our recital is coming up and we are all practicing like crazy!
I really loved the hymn!!! Beautiful. I love that hymn.

Beautiful!
I wish I could play the piano. Well, beyond Twinkle Twinkle Little Star!
You did an awesome job!
~ Kirsji ~

Would your sisters one day share their talents? I would love to hear you all do a piece together.

LOVELY CASSIA!!!!! And you have BEAUTIFUL hair!
Boy, do I agree with this spinster!! Heehee!! π
You look so relaxed and well postured in these photos Cassia! You look like you are really enjoying yourself! When I’m up there for a recital I’m nervous and look it in my face and tension! What grade are you in?
Hello Jessica,
Thank you for your comment! π
I am in 11th grade.
~Cassia π
