Last summer Cassia turned 16 years old.  We always have a "Sweet 16 Hope Chest" party for each of us girls as we’ve turned sixteen, and Cassia just recently had hers this past February.   We are such slowpokes sometimes about posting things when they happen, so this is a little late, but we thought you’d enjoy it anyhow!

Here is a very small glimpse of the preparation part…there was lots more going on, but at least you can see part of it!

Cassia and I were working on the party favors…little gift bags full of milk chocolate, caramel, and almond kisses πŸ™‚

Cassia made these shortbread cookies, and they were the BEST!

We had four tables set up out in our sunroom…this shows some of the decorating we did to them πŸ™‚

Do you notice a theme here?!  Cassia loves all things patriotic!  Leah and I went to the dollar store and found some red and white candles to put in pint-sized canning jars and some of the girls had some ivy and it really helped to dress up the tables!

Yummy pinwheels…

…and delicious homemade fudge!

The Menu

Ham & Cheese Sandwiches

Pinwheels

Caesar’s Salad

Classic Cream Scones

Shortbread Cookies

Raspberry or Peppermint Fudge

Raspberry Ice Cream Dessert

Tea (or hot chocolate!)

After we ate, it was time to play games πŸ™‚

Here is the first game…you want to play, too?!  Susannah and Anna had fun writing this out πŸ™‚

When we were all done with the games, Cassia opened her gifts.  Everyone had such good gift ideas and she got many pretty things…everything from doilies to aprons to a few dishes for her hope chest!

Hannah Dixon and I got to sit beside Cassia…we were the people who wrote down who gave her what gift

This book is absolutely amazing!  Leah made Cassia a homemaking book with sections for cleaning, recipes, gardening, etc!  To see more pictures of how she made it, go HERE to the post she did for Feelin’ Feminine a while back πŸ™‚

After the gifts were opened, Jocelyn and Rachel Dixon taught us girls the Virginia Reel,  and Leah was kind enough to fiddle for us as we danced πŸ™‚ It was SO much fun!   Leah said that she saw the bookcases swaying while we were jumping around in there, and do you notice the unhooked curtain rod in the background?!  We didn’t even realize that it happened until we were done dancing, and we still aren’t sure how it happened!  We must have been making the whole room bounce!  We have some videos of some of us dancing with the Dixon’s at another time…but that’s for another post!!!

Our last guests to leave were the Dixons…before they left, though, we got a picture of all us girls together πŸ™‚

And so ended a most splendid birthday party!

Happy Sweet 16 Cassia!

I am so impressed with your sweet sixteen party! I lead a Bible study of girls ages 8-15. Our plan is to "graduate them out at age 15 with a hope chest as a gift. You have given me some wonderful ideas!
