And finally, our Creation Museum post! π We had quite the fun time last weekend! (August 21-22) Each of us is going to do a bit of this post…so you’ll have different stories and views on it!
This picture was taken at the Creation Museum garden in front of one of the waterfalls.

My two very favorite parts about the Creation Museum were the planetarium, and the Noah’s Ark rooms : ) They were amazing! The whole museum was amazing .
The first day, we were up and ready to go out the door by 8:30 a.m. Then the long drive began! It took us about 5 hours or so, with rest stops and everything, which wasn’t too bad : ) Some of the girls played a "license plate game", and kept track of how many license plates they saw of each state. It was so interesting how many plates you’d see in a "short" 5 hour trip!
Florida 3
Michigan 8
South Carolina 2
North Carolina 4
Ohio 74
Tennesee 11
Maine 1
Wisconsin 4
Oregon 1
Illinois 15
Kentucky 93
Iowa 2
Texas 5
Indiana 76
Virginia 1
West Virginia 4
Pennsylvania 1
Massachusetts 1
Minnesota 4
Oklahoma 2
Missouri 3
Nebraska 1
New Jersey 2
Georgia 3
California 3
Utah 1
Twenty-seven states, plus a couple from Ontario, Canada : )
When we finally got there, the man who checked us in was teasing us that we would be easy to track down, since we were all matching . When we went to Ci Ci’s pizza, I was trying not to crack up when I saw a lot of the people seated by the windows, staring at us . It is always so funny to see them do that! But then, I’d probably do the same thing if I saw another family all matching! We met a family at Ci Ci’s that we had seen at the museum, and they had 7 boys and 2 girls—the exact opposite of us! Only not quite in the same order : D One of the girls told her mom, "Did you see that family that all wore matching jumpers?!" and her 13 year old brother said, "What? The one with the six million girls?!"
Once we actually got to the museum, I was looking at this pretty waterfall and was startled to see a person up by it. My first thought was, "What’s someone doing up there?" But, it was this animatronic girl : D
After watching the planetarium show, we started the Creation walk, and got all the way to the Noah’s Ark room, when we decided to go see the "Men in White" at the special effects theatre : ) That was so much fun! We also looked around at the bookstore but didn’t buy anything the first day. The gardens were SO pretty! I think the suspension bridge was my favorite one of them all : ) Unfortunately, that bridge was closed on Saturday, so we were happy that we had gone on it the day before.
In the picture below is the sign for a plant : ) The name "Purple Pickerelweed" tickled me : D I don’t know why, but I just like out of the ordinary names like that that make you smile : ) The flowers really were purple, but they’re not in the picture.
And speaking of signs…I saw two others that tickled me : )
"This space is still evolving"
and
"Temporarily out of order
(we live in a fallen world)
we will try to restore order as soon as possible"
I loved this picture of the alpaca! She has such a cute face!
And my most favorite animal at the petting zoo (with the zorse and zonkey a close second)! I loved his personality! I had heard that camels and llamas are all in the same family, and seeing a camel up close proved it! His personality is so much like a llama’s! They remind me of being very "proper", and kind of "haughty", but not so haughty that they aren’t friendly : )
At the end of the second day, we fed the animals, including the fish in the little lake that they had. I finally decided on a Creation Museum bookmark, and Susannah and I decided to buy some "space food"—a freeze-dried ice cream sandwich! We haven’t eaten it yet, but when we do, we’ll be sure to post pictures about it later! I also saw some sour cream and onion crickets. REAL crickets. I thought that they must be fake, until I read the ingredients! They also had bugs and worms—real ones—inside of suckers. That is just not my style of food! Apparently some people like them, though, because I heard a young boy excitedly telling his dad, "Dad! I got some crickets!" I know that freeze-dried ice cream sandwiches are weird, too, but I think I prefer space food, to bugs!
Well, there is a bunch, bunch, BUNCH more I could write about, but I’ll let the other girls fill you in on the rest of it—or at least some more of it!

What to say?
I loved all the water…
…and the bridges (this one was my favorite).
The alpacas were quite cute–I had fun feeding them!
And I thoroughly enjoyed the planetarium…
…and all the walkways and gardens. They were so pretty!
And of course I enjoyed the inside of the museum immensely! My favorite parts in there were probably the planetarium, the Noah’s ark rooms, and the great big waterfall in the main hall. And I also liked all the realistic looking people : )
So, to sum it all up,
I LIKED IT A BUNCH!!!

Getting up at 6:00-6:30 a.m. and driving for 4-1/2 hours (not including stops) was enough to make one tired! (Although it was fun π Thankfully, we could take naps in the van, although it wasn’t too comfortable π On the way down, just before going into Ohio and Kentucky, there were big hills. Nothing like that is where we live! We were joking that we call those mountains, and our hills are 3 feet high. People from places that had mountains would call our mountains hills, and our hills merely just "bumps". Here is a picture of a *mountain* π Of course, we have seen real mountains, but sadly Indiana doesn’t have any!
My favorite parts about the Creation Museum was probably the two "Noah’s Ark rooms", and the Stargazer’s Planetarium. (And now finding out that the other girls wrote just that too!) The first Noah’s Ark room had a display of the Ark, which was really neat! But, that was only 1% of the size of the actual Ark! (That is what the sign says in the picture below, although you might not be able to read it.)
The second room had mini Arks on display π Here is one of many:
(These pictures are rather out of order!) Our own state welcoming us back!
They had all kinds of really pretty flowers in the gardens. Some of which, were roses:
The front of the hotel we stayed at…it was quite exciting because this was the first time we stayed at a hotel in a long time! The suite was quite fancy too!
I made a new friend!!! I was feeding him (or her…I really don’t know!) here (although is looks like I’m talking about him). Now I want one! π (And a llama, and an alpaca, and a….. )
The alpacas were so cute! And a lot more shy than the camel! No doubt!
This book, "Behind the Scenes" is defiantly worth reading! You can learn many amazing facts about the Creation Museum! For example: The scales on the serpent are actually pumpkin seeds glued on one at a time and sealed with fiberglass resin. And another one: More than 80 miles of A/V cable runs through the museum! I could go on and on about that book, but I certainly don’t want to ruin it for you!
There are many many more things I could write about, but, alas, there is no room–and time!–

Okay, we all obviously have WAY different views on the travel part of it all. (Go back to Jessica’s and Susannah’s to see their point of view). The travel for me it was ABSLOUTELY WONDERFUL!!!!!!!! I LOVED IT!!!! Okay, yes, I did get a little sore or whatever, but it was worth it. I love to travel to places that aren’t familiar to me. I did not want to fall asleep and miss scenery that I hadn’t seen, so on the way there, I tried to take my nap in the beginning. (The nap wasn’t very successful, but anyhow) On the way home though, I was VERY tired. I SO wanted to fall asleep but I didn’t want to miss the scenery. So I waited until we were back to my home state, and until we passed all the "mountains", then told Anna to wake me up in 15 minutes. It ended up I slept for 30 minutes instead, but that’s okay. π I kinda wished the trip was longer than 5 hrs., but oh well, at least it wasn’t just 2 hrs! π
Here are some pictures of when we were traveling.
This is us in the van
He is kinda of interesting is he not? He was advertising for a business along the interstate.
Crossing the Ohio River on the way…exactly at 1:55 p.m.
Let’s get on to the hotel pictures.
Now you may be wondering why I am showing this picture. It’s to show the light switch on the outside of the bathroom. While someone was in there we would shut the light off on them
This is one of the bedrooms in the hotel. We unfortunately took the picture in the morning, after we messed it all up.
Leah doing Charissa’s hair Saturday morning.
The "living" area. There was a TV (+ DVD player) in both bedrooms and in the "living" area. Brother Pete!
~At the Creation Museum~
This guy worked there……but anyways he is holding a real live snake, and a lizard of some sort is on his shoulder.
Another picture of one of the Noah’s Ark displays.
And here is Daddy, Noah (sitting down) and Isaiah (standing up) in front of one of the waterfalls.
And that is the end of my picture show.
I would say the planetarium was my favorite part about the Creation Museum. I also liked the alpacas…they were VERY cute. I enjoyed the "Dragon Hall" bookstore. One of the things I bought was postcards. I like to collect them so I thought postcards would be nice as a souvenir. I had fun at the Creation Museum. Oh, another favorite was getting a souvenir photo taken (we didn’t buy it…..somehow, every picture they take they get a donation for it, whether you buy it or not. I’m not really sure how that works out.) We had two photos taken, one was normal, and the other was a silly one…we were supposed to act like we we’re afraid/scared of this decoration dinosaur….and we did….pretty funny.
The traveling was W-O-N-D-E-R-F-U-L-! I loved it! The eating out….the rest stops…..the new scenery……traveling on the interstate…..and the whole nine yards!
I don’t know what else to write so I guess I will say good night…..( for it is 10:15 p.m.)
Now I can’t wait to go out West!

Hello Girls! I'm Mrs. Lori from Illinois; I found your blog when I logged into HSB, and saw your picture on the welcome page as the one of the 3 most recently updated blogs…so I decided to visit! I have a blog here at Plans4You, and I write the "Homeschooling Through High School" blog for the Company Front Porch.
Anyway, I wanted to thank you all for posting the wonderful pictures of the Creation Museum Gardens and waterfall…that was the one part of the CM that we were unable to visit due to time constraints when we were out there almost 2 years ago! So it was nice to see them and read your descriptions. It brought back wonderful memories!
God Bless you,
Mrs. Lori Havens
Cassia-
If you want to see some beautiful scenary, look up where I am from, Mt.Shasta, CA. We have THE MOUNTAIN, waterfalls, trails (the Pacific Crest Trail runs nearby here…some people hike it from Canada to Mexico…amazing!), skiing/snowboarding in the winter, Lake Siskiyou, and many more wonderful things. Your family would love it!
Thank you for the tour-all of you, of the Creation Museum. We have seen it on TV, but will probably never get out your direction to go. It looks wonderful.
In Christ,
Frances

I recognized the tall man with the yellow shirt along the interstate. He lives about 10 miles from my house. I also never realized that you are fellow Hoosiers. I hope you enjoyed your vacation.

I've never seen a longer post! But I must also say nothing much deserves such a long post as the Creation Museum! Looks sooooo exciting! If the Lord wills, I would LOVE to go again someday! Seeing all those pictures and reading all your comments reminds me of all the fun we had at the Museum! I enjoyed the Men in White very much! It was so funnny! The Planetarium was amazing! The gardens were gorgeous! The petting zoo was great! And the whole rest of the place was awsomely Biblical, entertaining and so easy to understand!
The picture of your dad and brothers on the rock was very fun because it reminded me of a pic we got of Joseph standing up there looking like the King of the Garden!
