On Monday we went to the Indiana State Fair! (This was our first time.) This year’s theme is "The Year of Tomatoes". And since it was the year of tomatoes, they had tomato plants everywhere!! πŸ™‚

I’m only posting a few of the 190 pictures we took!  Or else, it would take forever to load! (As if it didn’t anyways!)

Our tickets right before handing them in! πŸ™‚ The two boys got in free since they were young enough.

Parking was crazy! This is a picture of the grandstand. We thought it was funny that all those people paid $15 a seat to watch someone sing crazy songs (if you could call what they were doing singing)! I suppose that person was famous! πŸ™‚

A part of the Home & Family Arts Building.  This place was huge!!

One of the two 4-H buildings. There were a lot of projects. Especially sewing!

The top part of my dress. There were so many sewing projects that they all had to be overlaid like that. Mine is the green one in the middle πŸ™‚

This one is Cassia’s.  The middle one (blue and white) again!

This was a small part of all the sewing projects! If you wanted to find one certain project, you had to hunt!

We all thought this was neat! A quilt shaped like the state of Indiana with all the counties on it!

This is my tatted bookmark. Second isn’t bad for State Fair!

On there somewhere is the results for Bekah’s frozen strawberries. At least they had them organized by the counties!

 Bekah’s llama poster

They had all the canned foods lined up in the windows

 Cassia’s pickles

After looking at all the 4-H projects, we watched the pig race.  It was one of those funny little things that they made a big deal out of by doing funny things like picking cheerleaders out of the crowd and making them stand in the infield and cheer for the pigs, dividing the crowd up to cheer for a particular pig, and by talking about it all endlessly!!!  But it was still fun to watch πŸ™‚

At the DNR building, they had a model of a town. They made it flood every 20 minutes, so we got to watch cars and houses float downstream.

Still in the DNR building: Cassia does not really like Abraham Lincoln. So, she got her picture taken with him πŸ™‚

Outside of the DNR building they had a fountain.  And since it was really hot and humid that day, we tried to cool off by standing in the mist coming off from it. Only problem was….we found out really fast that it had bleach in it!  End of that.

For lunch we went back to the van and sat in a line in the shade πŸ™‚

A view from the van, the Pepsi Coliseum. I’m not exactly sure what the building is used for; we think it is to show animals.

 The covered bridge

The boys were getting tired, so we got out the stroller

Anna and I shared a lemon-shake-up. Perfect for a hot day!!

A few of the rides (which we did not ride). That tall one looked kind of scary!

 The tomato gift shop

The had everything tomato in there!! Including stewed tomatoes and tomato sauce πŸ˜€

The very fancy and air-conditioned sheep and goat barn. It is about 4 times bigger than that.

 The show arena

 A few of the pens

At the pioneer village, there was a small log cabin that is a replica of what the people owned that settled in that area so many years ago!  The doorways (and the roof) were very low!

Those pegs sticking out of the wall is the ladder to the loft!

And finally, the whole reason we went!!…..

 The Dazzling Mills Family!!

Click HERE to see a video of them juggling.

And another oneHERE.

They were really good at juggling! (They also rode unicycles!) We finally found them at the end of the day and they put on a little act just because we were matching πŸ™‚  They were actually done for the day, but did it for us anyways.

If you can see them, two of them are riding the giraffe unicycles in the parade.

The person who was giving a show was Slackwire Sam.  The stuff he did was good…and crazy!!

Get the idea about being crazy?! πŸ™‚

Click HERE to see a video of him juggling.

They had these tractors pulling shuttles (as they called them) giving people rides for 75 cents. There were quite a lot of them!

Close to the end of the day (we were there for 9 hours!) we got ice cream!!

Leaving around 8:00 p.m. we got home at 11:00 (after stopping at Fazolis for supper).

We all were really sore and tired from the long day…but very happy too!!  I’m am very glad we got to go! It was a nice experience, and it was huge too!! πŸ™‚ We had to have a map to get around!

I'm glad that you all got to go to the State Fair and had such a grand time! It is such a large place . . . I can definitely understand why you needed a map! Yes, the Pepsi Colosseum is where they hold some of the animal events. I've never heard of the Dazzling Millers before, but from the pictures and videos they are quite impressive. That was so nice of them to put on a little show for you!

    Looking forward to tomorrow! πŸ˜€

Oh how fun! Some of those pictures look familiar…for we went the first day and had some shots on our camera just like those:) The State Fair is so much fun when one has time to rest from all the excitement.

    See you this afternoon!

It looks like you had tons of fun!

I just went to the Erie County Fair and that was pretty big but probably not as big as a state fair.

I didn't enter any contests but it looks like you and your family are really good at lots of things.

Air conditioned buildings for your sheep?

Our sheep are calling your sheep spoiled!~lol!

How did you learn to tat? Do you tat with a shuddle, needle or both? I can tat, you can see a picture of a simple flower I tatted on my blog ( http://asithome.blogspot.com/ ) however I taught myself to tat without a book because the book that I had was not clear. In other words even though the final product looks good I don't think I am doing the correct way.
