DAYS TILL CHRISTMAS!!!!

A couple of days ago (morning of December 18th) we got a really bad ice storm!!  EVERYTHING was covered in ice!!  It put us (and a lot of other people) out of  electricity for a while.  We had a generator (THANKFULLY!!)  so we could still do a few things.  But we had to have on only the necessary lights, so we did some things by candlelight, or in the dark.   We were out of  electricity for about 17 hours!  But I guess a few other places are still out of it …so we don’t really have it too bad!!

We took a ton of pictures, but I cannot post them all on here…so I’ll have to decide on the best ones.  The first one was taken the day before (17th), it was really snowing!  The roads were slick and we got about 2 inches!   Today (Sunday), we are getting a lot of wind that is knocking down twigs and ice!  It is dangerous to walk under a tree (which is almost impossible with the amount of trees we have : ).  It is somewhere around -13 degrees!  And very windy too!   Brrr!!

~The back sidewalk and the driveway covered in ice, with the barn in the back

~This is our big bush that is in the front yard, it is supposed to be taller and "bushier", but with all the ice on it, it sank down.

~All of our pine trees look like this!

~The destruction begins!!   With all the weight of the ice, quite a few branches fell down!

~The big branch in the back on the ground is what you are supposed to be seeing   One of our clothesline posts fell too!

~I thought this was hilarious!!!  Someone set a paper bag outside the day before and the next morning it looked like this

Lately, we have all been sewing and the electricity  keeps going off and on, off and on, some off’s are longer than others.  And that makes sewing difficult!!  When it comes back on, there is a rush to see how many stitches we can sew before the electricity  goes off again   I have already lost this post once due to the electricity  going off

We had some terrible ice also…our poor trees were sagging, and a huge branch almost fell on my part of the house…creepy!

But I must say, after everything has frozen and been covered in snow…I like the winter more than the summer…however summer chores are A LOT easier in the summer when you do not have to pass treacherous paths. πŸ™‚

    Have a Great Day!

    Love

The results from an ice storm are amazing though, aren't they? πŸ˜‰

Aw, Cassia, I'm so glad you were blessed by the Christmas card, and that it arrived at just the right time – the Lords timing! πŸ™‚

we have about three feet of snow in some places! But no, we live in washington. I just got done making a pathway through the snow to the generator so if we lose power it wont be for to long.

    just remember to stay safe!

    God Bless,

What lovely photos! Was it frightening to be without electricity for so long? We had a short icy period. It wasn't too bad though. πŸ™‚

Hey! all those branches down look familiar! We had some great big ones down in our yard, but I'm sure we'll talk more about that later!

Hope your electricity stays on so you can finish your sewing! I am going to get some material tomorrow to make myself an apron! I am pretty excited! πŸ™‚

I am hoping we can get together soon!
