Last month we returned to the house on Lake Michigan for a long weekend vacation that we were at in 2011. Of course, we had to recreate the picture on the front porch stairs:

In September 2011

…and back to the same location in September 2017

We all discovered that we, ahem, grew not only taller but also wider because it was a squeeze! 😀

So cool guys! Thanks for sharing!
Susannah and I just came back from a wedding in TN. On the way back we stopped by a town in KY we had gone to 3 1/2 years. We were going to take a picture in a same place at a icecream place. But somebody was sitting there. 🙁 oh well. XD

I enjoy reading your posts! This is something I would like to do as well and has been for several years. How did you get involved? What group are you with? Thank you in advance! <3

Oops, I’m sorry! I accidentally replied to this post instead of Anna Christina’s blog post on Guatemala.

      Hey Lauren,
      No problem 🙂
I heard about Casa Bernabe 4 years ago from a friend of my mom. That was the first time I went for a Month…then after Highschool Graduation I wanted to do long terms missions and went back to the same Orphanage. And I did not go with a group, it was just me.

Just now read your reply. I’ve been so busy! Thank you so much! Did you have to get training? Or did you just reach out? Did you learn the language before going? Or was it more just go and learn when you get there? What did you do do to prepare? I have always wanted to help care for orphans and hope that I will be going sometime this year.

Life has been crazy busy lately!
The Orphanage had someone to prepare me to live in another culture, so I had some reading and homework to do. I actually didn’t do much second language in high school, (maybe a few months on my own). I learned most of what I know while I was there! I would definitely suggest working on it as hard as you can before going because it cuts out a lot of stress.
Preparing, as I mentioned up there, there were a few books they had me read on cultures and working in different environments. It was also a Spiritual journey, working on emptying myself from things in life that keep us from moving forward. 🙂
