Yesterday was our llama show! One of our favorite (and busiest) days of the fair week!
Noah, waiting for his turn to show. Isaiah can hardly wait to be in 4H next year…he’s lost without his brother 🙂
Noah showing his llama during Showmanship
Charissa completing an obstacle with her llama 🙂 There are five classes in the llama show: Showmanship, Obstacle, Public Relations (what a llama might encounter if brought to a nursing home or parade), Pack (like Obstacle, but with a ‘backpack’ on the llama), and Costume.
Anna won Grand Champion over all in Showmanship!
It seems that every year we have a ‘boys playing in the dirt’ picture 😀 I think they are ‘farming’ while waiting for the show.
Something we all love about the llama club is how much like a family it is. Everyone competes against each other, but everyone is also SO happy for one another when they ‘win big’ 🙂 Cassia got to be the person who handed out ribbons 🙂 Our friend, Carolyn (in the pink), said that Cassia was ‘the most beautifulest of ribbon hander-outers’, lol! 😀
Carolyn’s mom, Ami, giving them all high fives…she’s a great encouragement to the kids!
All of the kids in their costumes, waiting to receive their ribbons for a previous class. They got dressed early, so that they could focus on dressing their llamas later 🙂 It was hilarious and so cute to see everyone dressed up.
I love the costume class!
Anna was the ‘Once-ler’ and her llama was a Tuffela tree (from the Lorax)
Rebekah as Princess Leia and her llama as Darth Vader.
Charissa as an EMT and her llama as a ‘hurt person’ 🙂
In previous practices, her llama actually wore the pants on his back legs…but he would have none of it on show day. So she improvised 🙂
Susannah also got to be a ribbon hander-outer 🙂
I love these smiles!
I wish Facebook would show me pictures (the internet is being bad)…because I’m pretty sure there’s a good one on there of when our friend, Maddy, won Versatility (which is determined by a point system on how well you did in all of the other classes). It’s the crowning moment of the whole show. She was crying, her friends were hugging her, and us committee members were trying not to cry, too! It was so, so sweet!
I got to announce for the llama show…I was a bit nervous at first, but then it was fun 😀 And April told me what to say…so that helped a lot, lol! Somewhere there’s a picture of April and me together…on Facebook 😛
Susannah was the person to pet the llamas for Public Relations 🙂
Yesterday was also ‘Dollar Day’ where you can ride any ride for a dollar. That’s usually when we older girls ride a few (the 4Hers get a free hour and a half on Thursday). Noah and Isaiah got to ride a few rides as well 🙂
The boys and I on the ‘Yoyo’. This has always been on of my favorite rides 😀

Last night, Cassia and I got to sleep in the llama tent. A committee member stays with the llamas each night, just to make sure they’re okay. It was the first time we’d ever done it, and it was so much fun! Like camping…only with a bunch of llamas 😀
I was sooooo tired, and could have gone to sleep almost right away, but suddenly I felt a poke in my side. I opened my eyes and Cassia was grinning at me. “I can’t go to sleep, so the obvious thing to do is to aggravate you!” And then she started chanting a silly ‘Makin’ bacon pancakes’ rhyme which she knows annoys me.
I told her, “Well…I know how to aggravate you, then,” I said. “My salsa beat your salsa!”
Lol!
Another time, I opened my eyes and saw that hers were closed, so I poked her 😀
Today the girls went up for pictures for the newspaper today with their llamas. I would post them here, but they’re on Facebook of course! I’ll post these missing pictures tomorrow 😉
The rest of the day we ‘hung out’ at the llama tent, with a few trips back home. It’s so much fun to just visit with our ‘llama family’ and play games 🙂
The girls showed Kyle (one of our friends from the llama tent) how to milk a goat tonight 🙂
Hanging out and eating ice cream 🙂 (We’re up to 75 milkshakes now, I think!)
Every year they set up a movie screen in the llama tent, show a movie, and make popcorn 🙂
This year they showed ‘Big Hero 6’ 😀
And again…I’m tired!
So goodnight!

Congrats Anna! Everything looks like so much fun! We went to the fair yesterday and to our disappointment there was not rides….:( Next year we have decided we are going to yours. 😀 Have fun with the “last” day tomorrow!
Thanks, Hope! And yes! You should definitely come to ‘ours’ next year 😉
